Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards who follow the college of tongues are unmatched masters of the word and language. They can learn multiple tongues and dialects with ease, and can use this ability to create bonds between creatures from different cultures, or to exert influence over others. To those bards, the ability to wield their words with finesse to create the desired outcome is a form of art in and on itself, and they are masters of this form of art.

They are typically found working as translators and diplomats, since their ability to understand language makes them the most adequate individuals to grasp the context maybe lost in the history of a book or scripture, and on the nuances and cultural weight of certain words in a given language. They also are often seen working with Wizards, since their comprehension of languages makes them capable of understanding arcane writings and unearthing the secrets of magic.

Master of Languages

Starting at 3rd level, you have the uncanny ability to understand and decipher languages. You gain proficiency in two languages of your choice. In addition, whenever you hear a creature speaking for one minute or more in a language that you do not already understand, you can make an Intelligence check, adding your proficiency bonus, against a DC of 20. On a success, you gain enough comprehension of that language to understand it for the next hour. Each time this check is made successfully against a language, the DC to understand this language on subsequent checks is decreased by 1. If you roll a 20 or the check, the subsequent DC decreases by 2.

In addition, you add Comprehend Languages to the spells you know. This doesn't count against your maximum number of bardic spells, and you can cast it as a ritual.

Social Chameleon

Whenever you make a Wisdom (Insight) or (Perception that relies on hearing) or Charisma (Deception), (Persuasion) or (Intimidation) that is related to the use of words, you can reroll any roll that is under a number equal your proficiency bonus + your half your bard level (rounded up), and must use the new roll. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. While you have no uses available, you can spend 1 bardic inspiration die to use this feature again.

Way With Words

Starting at 6th level, whenever you cast a spell that has only verbal components, the DC of the spell increases in 1. This amount increases to 2 at 10th level and 3 at 14th level.

In addition, whenever you hear a spell being cast, you can use your reaction to make a Wisdom (Perception) check against the DC of the spell. On a success, you can attempt to utter counter words that disrupt the effect of that spell, by spending an amount of Inspiration Dice equal to the level of the spell being cast.

Magical Tongue

At 14th level, you become able to instinctively use your words to produce any magical effect. You can cast any spell you have heard before of 6th level or lower and that has only verbal components, without spending a spell slot.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
