Base Class: Sorcerer

Soulblades are rumored to have interesting origins, whether swearing an oath to a greater power, being granted otherworldly gifts, or calling for power in a time of need. Consult the Manifestations table below, and choose or randomly determine the origin of your powers.

Mantle of Heroes

1st-level Soulblade feature

Magic flows from your Chosen Weapon into your body, granting you additional benefits. At 1st level, your hit point maximum increases by 1 and increases by 1 again whenever you gain a level in this class.

Additionally, you are covered with a shimmering veil from previous worldly heroes. When you aren’t wearing armor, your AC equals 13 + your Charisma modifier.

Chosen Weapon

1st-level Soulblade feature

At 1st level, you learn a ritual that creates a magical bond between yourself and one weapon. You perform the ritual over the course of 1 hour, which can be done during a short rest. When you attack with that weapon, you can use your Charisma modifier, instead of Strength or Dexterity, for the attack and damage rolls. The weapon must be within your reach throughout the ritual, at the conclusion of which you touch the weapon and forge the bond.

Once you have bonded a weapon to yourself, you can’t be disarmed of that weapon unless you are incapacitated. If it is on the same plane of existence, you can summon that weapon as a bonus action on your turn, causing it to teleport instantly to your hand.

Extra Attack

6th-level Soulblade feature

You can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. Moreover, you can cast one of your cantrips in place of one of those attacks.

Wrath of the Fallen

14th-level Soulblade feature

Starting at 14th level, when you are hit by a melee attack, you can use your reaction to deal force damage to the attacker. The damage equals your sorcerer level. The attacker must also make a Strength saving throw against your sorcerer spell save DC. On a failed save, the attacker is pushed in a straight line up to 20 feet away from you.

Chosen Hero

18th-level Soulblade feature

You summon spirits of fallen heroes in order to aid you in battle. As an action, or when you summon your Chosen Weapon you may call to them for assistance. You gain the following benefits for 1 minute:

  • Attacks with your Chosen Weapon score critical hits on a roll of 19 or 20.
  • You have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical weapons.
  • Whenever you cast a spell of 1st level or higher, you may make a melee attack as a bonus action.

This effect ends early if you are incapacitated or die. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest, or spend 6 sorcery points to do so.
