Base Class: Bard
Bards of the College of Mimicry forgo the Oratory and Musical arts, instead choosing to master the art of magic through the art of physical motion. Beginning with miming actions, Mimic Bards learn to weave magic through motion and to give their mimes form, embracing Conjuration magic on an instinctive level to harm, heal, trap and protect. Though rare, Mimic Bards often find themselves working as discreet bodyguards or even assassins, acting as performers or jesters while working in the shadows to protect clients, or eliminate targets.
Arcane Pantomime
When you join the College at 3rd Level you gain the ability to weave your magic through physical motions rather than through Oratory or Musical skills.
You no longer use the Verbal Components of spells and instead replace them with Somatic Components if the spell did not already have them.
Tangible Mimicry
As an action, create an object in your hands. The object is invisible to any creature without Blindsight or Truesight, but otherwise acts exactly as the object should. If the object you wish to create is a Tool or Weapon that requires a proficiency to use, then you must be proficient in the item in order to create it. Attacks with a weapon created by this feature count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
The created item disappears after a number of hours equal to your proficiency bonus or if you cease touching it. (Examples of items that can be created can be found in the Equipment section of the PHB.)
Once you have created an item with this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a spell slot of 2nd level or higher to use this feature again. You can have only one item created by this feature at a time; if you use this action and already have an item from this feature, the first one immediately vanishes.
Advanced Mimicry
From 6th Level, your mastery of Arcane Pantomime increases, granting you the ability to conjure even more with nothing more than motion. You can expend a use of Bardic Inspiration in order to conjure any of the following items:
Wall: As an Action, or as a Reaction upon you or a creature within 5 feet of you being targeted with an attack; you can conjure an invisible wall in front of yourself and the creature within 5 feet, granting you both three-quarters cover until the wall disperses at the start of your next turn.
Lasso: As a Bonus Action, conjure an invisible lasso and throw it at one creature of your choice that you can see within 15 feet of you. The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw against your spellcasting modifier or be pulled up to 10 feet in a straight line toward you.
Box: As an Action, conjure an invisible box around yourself, or a creature you can see within 30 feet of you in an attempt to restrain them. The target must make a Dexterity saving throw vs your spellcasting modifier. On a failed save, the Target is restrained within the Box. Only breathable air can pass through the Box's wall. No attack or other effect can. The Box lasts for an hour, or until the encased target succeeds in escaping the restraint.
Bandage: As a Bonus Action, conjure an invisible bandage that when applied, roll the expended Bardic Inspiration dice and heal the target for its total plus your charisma modifier.
Banana Peel: As an action, conjure an invisible banana. You peel it and eat it to restore 1 hit point. You can then pick an unoccupied space within 5 feet of you and drop the peel onto it, for the next hour, any creature to move through that space must make a Dexterity saving throw or be knocked prone, suffering 1 point of Bludgeoning damage from the fall.
Draw!: As an action, embrace you inner gunslinger to conjure an invisible firearm and fan fire on the enemy. Pick up to 4 creatures within 30 feet of you and make a ranged attack roll for each using your spellcasting modifier. On a hit, deal Piercing damage equal to a roll of the expended Bardic Inspiration dice plus your Charisma modifier.
Specialised Mime
Your mastery of specialised Mime expands, pick a conjured object from “Advanced Mimicry” to pick as your specialisation. You may conjure and use that object a number of times up to your proficiency bonus without expending a Bardic Inspiration dice per Long Rest. You may change your specialisation over the course of a Long Rest by spending an hour practising your new Mime.
Specialised Mime: Banana Peel
As an action, conjure an invisible banana.
Specialised Mime: Bandage
As a Bonus Action, conjure an invisible bandage that when applied, roll the expended Bardic Inspiration dice and heal the target for its total plus your charisma modifier.
Specialised Mime: Box
As an Action, conjure an invisible box around yourself, or a creature you can see within 30 feet of you in an attempt to restrain them.
Specialised Mime: Draw
As an action, conjure an invisible firearm. Pick up to 4 creatures within 30 feet of you and make a ranged attack roll for each using your spellcasting modifier. On a hit, deal Piercing damage equal to a roll of the expended Bardic Inspiration dice plus your Charisma modifier
Specialised Mime: Wall
As an Action, or as a Reaction upon you or a creature within 5 feet of you being targeted with an attack; you can conjure an invisible wall in front of yourself and the creature within 5 feet, granting you both three-quarters cover until the wall disperses at the start of your next turn.
Specialised Mine: Lasso
As a Bonus Action, conjure an invisible lasso and throw it at one creature of your choice that you can see within 15 feet of you. The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw against your spellcasting modifier or be pulled up to 10 feet in a straight line toward you.
Partner in Crime
At 14th Level, you gain the ability to conjure a copy of yourself within 30 feet of you as a Bonus Action.
The copy is invisible to anyone without Truesight or Blindsight and lasts either until it is destroyed, or until it is dismissed as an Action.
Your copy has an AC of 13 + your Proficiency bonus, 1 hit point, immunity to all conditions and occupies it’s space. If it has to make a saving throw, it uses your saving throw bonus for the roll. If you have a weapon conjured by your “Tangible Mimicry” your copy will also wield a copy of it. On your turn, you can mentally command your copy to move up to 30 feet in any direction (no action required). If your copy is ever more than 60 feet from you at the end of your turn, it is destroyed.
You can summon your copy this way once per Long Rest, or unless you spend a spell slot of 5th or higher level to re-summon it.
You can use the copy in the following ways:
- When you take the Attack action on your turn, any attack you make with that action can originate from your space or the copy’s space. You make this choice for each attack.
- When you cast a spell, you may cause it to originate from your copy’s space instead, and calculate the range accordingly.
- When you conjure an object with “Advanced Mimicry”, you may cause it to originate from your copy’s space instead.
- When a creature that you can see within 5 feet of your copy moves at least 5 feet away from it, you can use your reaction to make an opportunity attack against that creature as if you were in the copy’s space.
