Base Class: Paladin
Oath of Undying Nighthood is imposed on a fallen knight binding the oath taker's soul to undeath, taken postmortem after committing a damningly evil act that their gods condemned absolutely (often forsaking their oaths). They are cursed by their gods to rise in penance for their sins as the living dead, never able to rest until the day they are judged to be truly redeemed.
These paladins often adorn their armor with skulls and similar death and undead motifs, adding to their aura of intimidation and reminding them of their eternal pledge.
Tenets of Devotion
Though the exact words and strictures of the Oath of Undying Knighthood vary, paladins of this oath share these tenets.
Take command of your soul and destiny. Seek redemption or embrace damnation--be a dark hero, or be a dire villain, but never forget that it was your choice to do either, as it was your choices that made you thus.
Honor must be reclaimed, it must be kept, it must be practiced. Never act without honor, and never break your word as it was given. Even if it is your only scruple, honor does not die.
Never forget your sins. Whether you seek redemption or you embrace your sins, always sing of your first most damning tale beneath the full moon, so you will never forget.
Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.
Bone March. You can use your channel divinity to temporarily take control of undead around you. As an action, you present your holy symbol and utter a brief prayer of command. All undead within 30 feet of you that can see you and hear your prayer must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spellcasting DC. On a failure, they must follow your orders for 1 minute. Every time they take damage due to your orders, they can attempt the Wisdom saving throw again. The combined CR of the undead controlled by this ability cannot be higher than your paladin level.
Unholy Strike. You can use your Channel Divinity to strike with the unholy power of death. When you make an attack roll, you can use your Channel Divinity to infuse your weapon attack with dark power dealing 4d8 necrotic damage, and healing you for half the total necrotic damage dealt by the attack (including damage from other bonuses).

Aura of Death
Starting at 7th level, you constantly emanate a menacing aura while you’re not incapacitated. The aura extends 10 feet from you in every direction, but not through total cover.
If a creature is within the aura takes necrotic damage, you can use your reaction to deal extra necrotic damage to that creature equal to twice your paladin level.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.
Vengeful Death
Starting at 15th level, when you reach 0 hit points you do not fall Unconscious, but instead, keep on fighting. You take damage and make death saves as normal, when you reach 3 failed death saves you die.
Undying Juggernaut
At 20th level, you gain the ability to harness the power of death. As an action, you can magically become an avatar of death, gaining the following benefits for 1 minute:
- You have resistance to all damage
- Your hit points cannot be lowered past 1 HP. Every time you take damage that would normally reduce you past 1 HP, you instead gain one level of exhaustion.
- You are immune to the effect of the 6th level of exhaustion.
- When you deal necrotic damage, it deals damage with one die larger. E.g. a d8 will become a d10, a d12 will become d12 + your Charisma Modifier.
- If you force a creature to make a saving throw to take half damage from necrotic damage, that creature has disadvantage.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
