"We know not what fear is, for it was cut from our hearts when we swore our oath, we know only hatred for our enemies."

-Lady Avelina, The First Walker.

The Ancient Order

The Order of The Firewalkers was founded ages ago, in a time of necessity, when fiends of The Lower Planes walked along side us. Though the need for them has gone down in recent years, that is because they are good at their job. Prowling the lower planes, killing fiends who would bring harm to us.

Unsung Heroes

The order of Firewalkers is a secret order, a Firewalker will know no valor, a Firewalker's name will not be found in the history books, and bards will not sing tales of the order of Firewalkers, yet, all the same, they fight anyways, for they do not wish for valor. The order of Firewalkers is not a team, many Firewalkers work alone, although some bond with a researcher who is interested in the lower planes, however, after their training, two Firewalkers will almost never be found in the same room.

Firewalker's Step

When you begin training in The Order of Firewalkers at 3rd level, you are taught a technique known as The Firewalker's Step:

  • You gain resistance to fire damage.
  • Once per short rest, when you take fire damage, the speed of your step is empowered by the flame, your movement speed is doubled until the end of your next turn.

Firewalker's Blade

At 3rd level, you learn a ritual that creates a magical bond between yourself and one weapon. You perform the ritual over the course of 1 hour, which can be done during a short rest. The weapon must be within your reach throughout the ritual, at the conclusion of which you touch the weapon and forge the bond, turning it into your Firewalker's Blade.

Once you have bonded a weapon to yourself, you can’t be disarmed of that weapon unless you are incapacitated. If it is on the same plane of existence, you can summon that weapon as a bonus action on your turn, causing it to teleport instantly to your hand.

Additionally, your Firewalker's Blade scores a critical hit against fiends on a roll of 19 or 20.

Only one weapon can be bound at a time.

Fire Rend

Starting at 7th level, you gain the ability to imbue your Firewalker's Blade with the power of the flames. When you make an action surge, your blade begins to glow with radiant fire, empowering it with an additional 2d6 radiant damage until the start of your next turn. This damage increases by 1d6 against fiends.

Strong-Willed

Starting at 10th level, you have grown numb to the sights you see walking among the flames. You are immune to the frightened and charmed conditions, and gain proficiency in wisdom saving throws.

Looming Flames

Starting at 15th level, the sight of your flames are so menacing, they instill fear in your enemies. When you empower your Firewalker's Blade with your feature, up to 4 creatures within 30 ft. must make a wisdom saving throw, DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your strength or dexterity score, or be frightened until the end of your next turn, while frightened in this way, you have advantage on attack rolls against them. Fiends have disadvantage on this saving throw.

Flame Strider

Starting at 18th level, you have perfected the Fire Step technique:

  • You gain immunity to fire damage
  • Twice per short rest, when you are subject to an effect that would cause fire damage, your movement speed is tripled until the end of your next turn.
