Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards of the College of Paint, simply called master painters, are more skilled with a paintbrush than a swordsman is with a blade. Masters of hues and form, their skill is so refined and their portraits so lifelike, they can call upon the paint itself to assume life and aid their cause.

The College of Paint is a comfortable home for bards who have a lack of interest or have no knowledge in the playing of an instrument, instead having chosen to weave their performances and abilities through their painting and artwork.

Bards who are of this college and generally thought to be a lower form of bard due to their rejection of the other colleges and methods that their fellow bards employ. They are more antisocial and are more ragged and rough as for their appearances, their clothes, skin, and hair are typically stained with their constant use of paints and inks. It is told and rumoured that through practice and determination, these bards can actually bring their artwork to life to serve them as familiars and followers.

Painter's Supplies

3rd-level College of Paint feature

You gain proficiency with painter's supplies. In addition, you can use painter's supplies as a spell casting focus for your bard spells.

Arcane Paintbrush

3rd-level College of Paint feature

You can use an action to create an arcane weapon in your empty hands. This is a simple melee weapon that appears to be some sort of artist utensil like a paintbrush that can be used like painter's supplies. Its stats and information are as follows;

This weapon disappears if it is more than 5 feet away from you for more than 1 minute or more. You are proficient in this simple melee weapon, and while welding it and this weapon counts as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to magical damage. It also has the heavy and two-handed properties. In addition, you can use your Charisma modifier for attack and damage rolls with this weapon, the weapon deals 1d8 force damage. This dice upgrades to 1d10 at 6th level, and 1d12 at 14th level.

Creative Soul

3rd-level College of Paint feature

As an action, when you have your painter's supplies in hand, you can create one non-magical item of your choice in any unoccupied space within 10 feet of you. The item must appear on a surface or in a liquid that can support it. The GP value of the item can’t be more than 20 times your bard level, and the item must be Medium or smaller. The item looks slightly cartoonish as if it was drawn. The created item disappears after a number of hours equal to your proficiency bonus.

Once you create an item with this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a spell slot of 2nd level or higher to use this feature again. You can have only one item created by this feature at a time; if you use this action and already have an item from this feature, the first one immediately vanishes.

The size of the item you can create with this feature increases by one size category when you reach 6th level (Large) and 14th level (Huge).

Inkthing

6th-level College of Paint feature

As an action, using your painter's supplies, you can paint a Large or smaller thing within 30 feet of you and animate it. The animate item uses the Inkthing start block, which uses your proficiency bonus (PB). The item is friendly to you and your companions and obeys your commands. It lives for 1 hour, until it is reduced to 0 hit points, or until you die.

In combat, the item shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It can move and use its reaction on its own, but the only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action. If you are incapacitated, the item can take any action of its choice, not just Dodge.

When you use your Bardic Inspiration feature, you can command the item as part of the same bonus action you use for Bardic Inspiration. Once you paint a thing with this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a spell slot of 3rd level or higher to use this feature again. You can have only one item animated by this feature at a time; if you use this action and already have a dancing item from this feature, the first one immediately becomes inanimate.

Only one of these items can be of the maximum size you can create; the rest must be Small or Tiny.
