Base Class: Artificer

Specialized in building and using an Arcane Arquebus, the Arcane Gunsmith is a devastating foe, picking off enemies before they realize they're under fire, launching volleys of shots faster than seems possible, often from beyond the horizon, and with terrifying accuracy. 

Arcane Stalker

You gain a bonus on Dexterity (Stealth) checks equal to your Intelligence modifier.

 

Arcane Arquebus

At 3rd level, you finish the construction of your specialized weapon. The long, heavy rifle is powered by the use of spell energy, firing shots of compressed eldritch magic. Starting when you gain this feature, you gain proficiency with the use of the Arcane Arquebus, and the tools needed to care for it.  It can also be used as the spellcasting focus for your Artificer spells.

Arcane Arquebus          2d8 piercing damage          Two-Handed, Heavy, (Range 120/500), Loading, Special (Str 15) 

Special: You cannot effectively wield this weapon without significant strength, or a way to brace the weapon (such as a bi-pod or a battlement).

While this weapon does not use ammunition, the mechanism used to fire the blasts still requires resetting after each shot, thus it has the loading property.  The shots fired from this weapon are always considered magical for the purposes of overcoming  damage resistance and immunities.

When you reach 9th level in this class, the damage of your crafted Arquebus increases to 3d8. 

 

 

Bolt Sigils

5th-level Artillerist feature

You know how to tune your Arquebus to channel your destructive energy. When you finish a long rest, you can use woodcarver’s tools to carve special sigils into your arquebus, granting it additional power. The sigils disappear from the object if you later carve them on a different item. The sigils otherwise last indefinitely. 

At 5th level you learn two sigils from the options below. You learn one additional sigil of your choice, and you can choose one of the sigils you know and replace it with another sigil at 9th and 15th level. 

You can use each sigil once. You regain all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.

Disrupting Bolt

As an action, you can make an attack with your Arquebus, expending a spell slot if the attack hits. If the target takes damage from the attack, until the start of your next turn, it can't cast spells of equal or lower level than the expended spell slot, and any spells of those levels on the target end. 

Explosive Bolt

As an action, you can make a special weapon attack with your Arquebus and expend one spell slot to deal additional force damage to the target and each creature within 15 feet of it. The extra damage is 2d8 for a 1st-level spell slot, plus 1d8 for each spell level higher than 1st. 

Horizon Bolt

As an action, you can expend a spell slot and begin concentrating (as if you were concentrating on a spell) for up to 1 minute, to grant yourself a bonus to the maximum range of your Arcane Arquebus. The bonus starts at +10 feet per level of the slot expended, and is doubled at the start of your turn.

While you concentrate on this ability, your sight is magically enhanced, allowing you to see up to 5 miles away with no difficulty, able to discern even fine details as though looking at something no more than 100 feet away from you.

These bonuses end after you make one or more attacks with your Arcane Arquebus, or if your concentration ends.

Rapid Bolts

 As an action, you can expend a spell slot to make a number of attacks with your Arquebus equal to the slots level, to a maximum of 5.

Silent Bolt

As an action, you can spend a spell slot to cause your Arquebus to fire a special shot at a target within range. The target must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw. On a failure, the target suffers normal damage from your weapon plus an additional 4d8 psychic damage, and is unaware of this damage. On a success, the target takes half damage and is aware that it was hit.

Vorpal Bolts

As an action, you can spend a spell slot to grant yourself Advantage with your Arquebus for a number of attacks equal to the level of the slot  . For each of these attacks, you score a critical hit on a roll of 17-20. 

Rapid Rechamber

9th level Arcane Gunsmith feature

After you use a Bolt Sigil, you can make an attack with your Arcane Arquebus as a bonus action. This attack doesn't benefit from, or end your concentration on, Horizon Bolt. 

 

Empowered Bolts

9th-level Artillerist feature:

The firearms’s damage rolls all increase by 1d8, and it's damage is changed to force. 

Perfected Arquebus

15th-level Arcane Gunsmith feature

You've perfected your Arcane Arquebus, and can use it to it's fullest potential. After you deal damage with your Arcane Arquebus, you may make a special attack, which gains the effects of a Bolt Sigil of your choice that you know, without expending a use of that sigil. 

You can make this special attack once each turn,  a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier. You regain all uses of this ability when you finish a long rest.
