Base Class: Monk
Jedi are guardians of peace and justice throughout the universe. Like all monks, they detach themselves from worldly things like love and material possessions, and are pacifistic unless compelled to defend themselves or others around them. When instigated, Jedi enter combat calmly, seeking to never let emotion interfere with rational thought. Wielding blades of colorful radiance, they strive to fully understand and attune to the cosmic energy that connects all living things, which they simply call "the Force".
Force Manipulation
When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain a basic understanding of how to manipulate the Force. You can cast the gust and mage hand cantrips at will, requiring no verbal components. Your mage hand is also invisible.
Lightsaber
When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you acquire a magical longsword that you gain proficiency in. This magical weapon (called a lightsaber) has a fully retractable blade which glows any color of your choice, other than red, and sheds dim light in a 15-foot radius. Your lightsaber counts as a monk weapon for you and deals radiant damage instead of slashing damage. Work with your DM to decide how you have acquired your lightsaber, whether it has been passed on to you or constructed by your own hand.
Lightsaber Form
Once a Jedi receives or constructs their lightsaber(s), they dedicate their training to one or more of the six forms of lightsaber combat. You learn one of these forms now and, whenever you gain an Ability Score Improvement, you may forgo that feature to instead take an additional lightsaber form.
Choose one of the forms below:
Form I: Shii-Cho
Whenever you make a melee attack with a lightsaber, you may spend 1 ki point to make another attack with your lightsaber against a different target within 5 feet of you.
Form II: Makashi
When a creature misses you with a melee weapon attack, you may spend 1 ki point to use your reaction to make an attack against that creature with your lightsaber.
Form III: Soresu
While wielding a lightsaber, you gain a +2 bonus to your Armor Class. You can only gain this benefit from one lightsaber at a time.
Form IV: Ataru
Whenever you use your Step of the Wind ability, attacks that you make with your lightsaber deal additional radiant damage equal to half your monk level (rounded down) until the end of your turn.
Form V: Shien
While wielding a lightsaber, your Deflect Missiles ability includes your Wisdom modifier in its damage reduction.
Form VI: Niman
You gain an additional lightsaber. Lightsabers you wield have the light property.
Lightsaber Throw
At 6th level, lightsabers you wield have the thrown property with a normal range of 20 feet and a long range of 60 feet. Immediately after you make a ranged attack with a lightsaber, it flies back to your hand.
Mind Trick
By 11th level, you have learned how to use the Force to influence the minds of those around you. You may spend 2 ki points to cast the suggestion spell without needing material components.
Force Mastery
By 17th level, you have become a master in the Force. You can spend 3 ki points to cast the telekinesis spell without its verbal component.

Posted Aug 11, 2022I’m glad you like it! I decided to stick mostly to the original trilogy as far as force powers go in order to avoid broken characters. Since most jedi aren’t going to be as powerful as Luke or Yoda, I feel that the force powers that are available at their respective levels are fairly balanced. However, I do understand that most jedi have unique/specialized abilities (such as Plo Koon’s “Electric Judgment”) and taking feats such as Magic Initiate can help diversify your character in that way! I just wanted to have the basic things that most jedi can do (to which the Monk class also contributes with things like Step of the Wind), and leave more unique things up to the player/DM as the player progresses. If you feel like you should be able to do more than the subclass allows, pitch it to your DM and I’m sure they will find a way to work it into the game!
That being said, I am always open to ideas so thanks for your comment!

Posted Aug 10, 2022Any plans on adding more force powers to this subclass? I'm keen on using it because I love the option to have each lightsaber combat style. Any input would be appreciated, as this class is very meticulous about the lightsaber combat options!
