Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

A falconer and his beast work as one. They have forged an unbreakable bond, and function seamlessly as a unit. A falconer trains his beast to aid him in battle, scout ahead, provide distractions, and hunt. In return, the beast is given love and care, food and shelter.

With the proper training, a Falconer's beast can even aid in stealthy combat encounters, adapting and improving upon its handler's sneaky approach, and with advanced training they can even deliver deadly blows in their own right.

Falconer's Beast

At 3rd level, you gain a beast that accompanies you on your adventures and is trained to fight and hunt alongside you. Choose a beast that is no larger than Small and that has a challenge rating of 1/8 or lower. Add your proficiency bonus to the beast’s AC, attack rolls, and damage rolls, as well as to any saving throws and skills it is proficient in. Its hit point maximum equals the hit point number in its stat block or four times your rogue level, whichever is higher. It has a number of Hit Dice(d6s) equal to your rogue level, and like any creature, it can spend Hit Dice during a short rest to regain hit points.

In combat, the beast acts during your turn. It can move and use its reaction on its own, but the only action it takes is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action. You can also sacrifice one of your attacks when you take the Attack action to command the beast to take the Attack action. If you are incapacitated, the beast can take any action of its choice, not just Dodge.

If the beast dies, you can obtain a new companion by spending 8 hours bonding with a beast that isn’t hostile to you and that meets the requirements.

Synchronized Assault

You have trained your beast to harry your enemies' defenses to exploit weaknesses.

When you deal Sneak Attack damage to an enemy within 5 feet of your Falconer's Beast, it can use its reaction to make a single attack against that enemy as well.

Beast Trainer

Starting at 3rd level, you have proficiency in Wisdom Animal Handling.

Predator's Instinct

Beginning at 9th level, when your Falconer's Beast hits with an attack, it can deal your Sneak Attack damage instead of you.

In addition, the beast's attacks now count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.

Huntsman's Friend

Starting at 13th level, when you are within 100 feet of your Falconer's Beast, you have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) and Wisdom (Survival) checks.

Master Falconer

Beginning at 17th level, your Falconer's Beast knows how to exploit weak points in tandem with you. You and your beast can both deal Sneak Attack damage within the same turn, provided you both meet the criteria, but Sneak Attack cannot be used against the same target more than once in a turn.
