Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

Nexus Blade sorcerers are different from other sorcerers; the magical lineage or event that’s the source of their power, whatever that may be, isn’t the defining factor in their magical abilities. Instead, in order to rein in their power and establish control, sorcerers of the Nexus Blade channel their magical essence into a small magical crystal. Upon affixing this crystal to a weapon, Nexus Blade sorcerers are able to channel their magic through their crystal, using the blade not only as a focus for spellcasting, but as a conduit for their magical essence to enhance their physical bodies and martial capabilities.

Nexus Spells

Starting at 1st level, you learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Nexus Spells table. Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of spells you know.

Nexus Blade

Beginning at 1st level, you can harness your powers into a small crystal of your own magical creation, which can be affixed to a weapon. Over the course of a 1-hour long ritual, you can attach your crystal to a one-handed martial melee weapon, bonding the weapon to your magical essence to create a Nexus Blade. Your Nexus Blade has the following features:

  • You are proficient with your Nexus blade.
  • You may use your Nexus blade as a spellcasting focus.
  • It is considered to have the finesse property while you are wielding it.
  • It is considered magical for the purposes of overcoming resistances and immunity to non-magical attacks and damage.
  • You can summon your Nexus Blade into your hand as a bonus action.

If the crystal in your Nexus Blade is lost or destroyed, you can create a new one over the course of a 1-hour long ritual in which you magically form a new crystal and destroy the old crystal (if it still exists).

Additionally, as a bonus action, you can spend one sorcery point to use your connection to your Nexus Blade to boost its damage dealing capabilities. For the next minute, your Nexus Blade deals an extra 1d6 force damage per hit. This damage scales as you gain levels in this class. 1d8 at 5th, 1d10 at 11th, 1d12 at 17th.

Extra Attack

Starting at sixth level, while you are wielding your Nexus Blade, you can attack twice instead of once when you take the Attack action on your turn. Additionally, as a reaction to being attacked, you may spend one sorcery point to add your Charisma modifier (minimum of +1) to your AC until the beginning of your next turn.

Enhanced Body

Starting at 14th level, you’ve harnessed your connection to your Nexus Blade to bolster your physical capabilities and defenses. While your Nexus Blade is on your person, your speed increases by 10 ft. and your jump distance is doubled. Additionally, at the start of each of your turns, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of +1). While you have these temporary hit points, you can add your Charisma modifier (minimum of +1) on all Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution Saving Throws, as well as Strength (Athletics) checks and Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks.

Perfect Nexus

Starting at 18th level, as an action, you can focus your connection with your Nexus Blade, maxing out your physical and martial capabilities for a short time. For one minute, you gain the following benefits.

  • You have advantage on all attack rolls with your Nexus Blade.
  • You can add your Charisma modifier (minimum of +1) to the damage rolls of your attacks using your Nexus Blade.
  • You do not provoke opportunity attacks.
  • Your speed increases by another 10 ft.

Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest, unless you spend six sorcery points to use it again.
