Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Eternal Storm believe that natural order cannot exsist without change. Thus peace cannot exsist without chaos. The Eternal Storm is a metaphor for this chaos. Monks of the Eternal Storm strive to understand these forces and to understand their place in the natural balance between peace and chaos.
Members of this order will build their temples in places where terrible storms occur on a regular basis. Islands that are frequented by storms, plains that see high winds on a regular basis, or places that endure fierce seasonal storms, are all places members of this order like to establish themselves. Their temples are intended for them to frequently feel the might of the winds and the furry of nature itself. These monks often meditate and focus on the forces at play with each other during these storms. The monks believe that only through understanding the balance of these forces can one achieve enlightenment to understand the forces of nature itself.
Balance with Nature
At 3rd Level the monk will gain a proficiency with nature skill.
Body of Wind
At 3rd level a monk of the Eternal Storm can make great leaps by manipulating the air around them to aid them in their leaps. They will add their proficiency score to the height of any high jump, and double their proficiency score to the distance of any long jump. This ability does not cost any Ki to use, but it can affect their turn movement like any other jumping maneuver.
Normally the maximum height of a high jump is 3 plus the character's strength modifier. This ability will add their proficiency bonus to this maximum height. Additionally, the normal maximum distance of a long jump is the character's strength score. This ability will add double their proficiency bonus to this distance. This benefit can work in conjunction with Step of the Wind to double the totals of these jumping distances if the monk wishes to spend Ki to do so.. If the monk does not wish to spend any Ki then the standard bonuses from this ability apply.
One with the Storm
At 6th level a monk of the Eternal Storm can spend a point of Ki to temporarily become resistant to lightning and thunder damage. This ability can be activated as a reaction when they would normally take damage of these types. Once activated, this resistance will remain in effect for one minute.
Lightning Fists
At 6th level a monk of the Eternal Storm will gain the ability to electrify their fists. This requires a bonus action and 3-points of Ki to activate. Once activated this ability will electrify the monks hands for 1 minute and will add electrical damage equal to the monk's wisdom modifier to any unarmed strike(s) they make during the duration.
If the monk needs to use their hands for anything other than unarmed strikes they must wait until this power subsides. Once this power is activated it must be allowed to run for its full duration. This electricity cannot be used to add to the damage of weapons within the monks hands. The electricity has the ability to magnitize metal and burn wood, so weapon use while this power is in effect is counter-productive.
Move Like the Storm
At 11th level a monk of the Eternal Storm gains the ability to flow like the furious winds that they study. This ability costs 3-points of Ki and a bonus action to activate. This ability lasts for 1-minute and will allow the monk to temporarily add their proficiency bonus to their armor class and initiative.
If the monk wishes to extend this ability past the 1-minute duration they must spend another 3-points of Ki at the time the affect would expire. Extending this ability's duration does not require an additional bonus action.
Storm Leap
At 17th level a monk of the Eternal Storm gains the ability to spend 4-points of Ki and perform a maneuver known as a Storm Leap. This ability acts like casting a Misty Step spell-like ability with one exception, the monk will unleash a wave of thunder over a 5' foot radius where they teleport to. All enemies of the monk's choice within 5' feet of where they teleport to must make a Dexterity saving throw or suffer 3d8 points of thunder damage and be thrown 10' feet away from where the monk teleported to. Those opponents that make this save take only half damage and are not thrown from their locations.
Like misty step the maximum distance the monk can teleport is 30' feet. A Storm Leap requires 4-points of Ki and a full action to perform. The DC of the required saving throw is equal to 8, plus the monk's wisdom modifier, plus the monk's proficiency bonus. The monk can choose before they teleport which creatures in the radius of the thunder attack are harmed by the thunder affect. Allies and innocent creatures automatically avoid the damage if the monk so wishes.
