Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

In Faunia, the military might of Turkey's avian air force is unparalleled. Their combined use of their flight and martial prowess inspires fighters all over Faunia to take to the skies and rain terror on opponents. Whether with physical wings or magical soaring, the colloquially known "Flighters" cruise around the battlefield dispensing pain from above.

Take to the Skies

Starting at 3rd level when you take this subclass, there are two possible benefits.

  • If you do not have a flying speed, you gain the ability to cast Fly, only targeting yourself, once. You regain use of this trait on a long rest.
  • If you do have a flying speed, enemies can no longer target you with an opportunity attack while you fly.

Flying Style

At 7th level, you unlock a strength of the Turkey military: the variety. Choose one of the following flying styles and gain the corresponding benefit.

  • Speed: While you have a flying speed, whether magical or inherent, it is doubled. Additionally, you may take the dash action as a bonus action.
  • Offense: When you fly in a straight line for at least 20 feet and make a melee attack on a target, you gain advantage on that attack roll. If the attack hits, you may add your proficiency bonus to all damage rolls until the end of your turn.
  • Evasion: While using a flying speed, you may add your dexterity modifier on top of your normal AC.
  • Diversion: While using a flying speed, if you hit a creature with a ranged attack, you can use your bonus action to force them to make a wisdom saving throw against a DC equal to 8+ your dexterity modifier+ your proficiency bonus. On a fail, they have disadvantage on attack rolls against creatures other than you until the end of their next turn.

Flaring Wings

At level 10, you unlock the strategy of the Winged Phalanx. If a friendly creature adjacent to you is attacked, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack in a sudden outburst of wind. If the attack misses, you may take the attack action on the creature that made the attack. You can use this feature once, regaining its use on a long rest.

Wind Rider

At 15th level, your flight is nigh unstoppable. If you do not have a flying speed, you gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed. Additionally, if your speed is reduced to 0 while flying, you still do not fall. Finally, strong winds, even magical ones, do not affect you or ranged attacks you make.

Blade of the Galeforce

At 18th level, you become a paragon of fighters of the sky. When you hit a creature with an attack, you can force them to make a strength saving throw against 8+ your strength or dexterity modifier+ your proficiency bonus or be hurled twenty feet into the air. You do not need to expend movement to follow them. If you attack them while in this state, you have advantage on the attack roll. At the end of your turn, they fall back to the ground and fall prone. Additionally, you learn the Gust of Wind and Steel Wind Strike spells and may cast either without providing material components. Once you cast a spell from this feature, you may not cast that particular spell again until finishing a long rest.
