Base Class: Ranger

A mysterious warrior, the Shadow Ranger has mastered the art of using their own shadows to aid them in battle. Surrounded by shadows of their own might, they charge into the fray as a cycling swarm of shadows and strikes.

Shadow Ranger

Manifest Shadow

At 3rd level, you can use a bonus action to magically manifest a shadow of yourself or a shadow beast from within yourself. This shadow is a magical, translucent, gray image of you that lasts until it is destroyed, until you dismiss it as a bonus action, until you manifest another shadow, or until you're incapacitated.

On your turn, you can mentally command the shadow of yourself to move up to 30 feet in any direction. You can move the Shadow beast the amount of move speed depending on the type that is summoned. If your shadow is ever more than 30 feet from you at the end of your turn, it is destroyed. If the shadow beast is ever more than its move speed from you at the end of your turn, it is destroyed.

  • As a bonus action, you can teleport, magically swapping places with your shadow at a cost of 15 feet of your movement, regardless of the distance between the two of you.

Shadow Manipulation

At 3rd level, you can use shadow's fury. Whenever you take the Attack action, you can make one additional attack from the shadow's position. You can use this feature a number of times 1 +  your proficiency modifier. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest and regain one per short rest.

Instead of having a spectral image of you out on the battlefield, you transform your shadow into a shadow beast of your choosing by using shadow energy. You get slots equal to your PB they can be regained through long rest. The shadow beast stays until defeated or dismissed. You have no other shadows available until it is defeated or dismissed.
