Base Class: Monk
Swift as a coursing river, and with the strength of a great typhoon; possessed of the force of a raging fire, yet mysterious as the dark side of the moon- these are the practitioners of the Fist of the Jade River. Originating from a monastery in the mountains by a great river in an eastern nation, this tradition modeled its style after the flow of the nearby river, with fluid and dynamic movements that focus on maximizing explosive power. After one of their monks- a young woman in disguise who had run away from her rich family- helped repel an invading army, the style's reputation spread far and wide, attracting many towards its monastery.
Now with many devotees, other Fist of the Jade River monasteries sprung up. Many began to focus almost solely on combat, pushing the tradition's techniques to almost unbelievable heights- but there still remained the core focus on tranquility, and finding your center. It is the tranquil monks of the tradition that endured, having longevity to go with their breathtaking physicality and inner peace.
You or your master have come from a Fist of the Jade River Monastery. Many will have high expectations for you: to have a rugged manliness, be a devastating fighter, or be wise and mysterious. However, all these things are within your reach if you stick with the tradition, and more- for like a great river, if you stay your course few obstacles will be able to slow you down.
Lunar Tranquility
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, the style's vigorous training and ingenious techniques give you clarity, and your strikes deadly potential. You can land a critical hit on a roll of 19-20.
Whitewater Drift
At 6th level, your raw speed coupled with Fist of the Jade River's movement forms allow you to move so fast you become a blur. If you move at least half your speed, you become partially obscured until the end of your next turn.
Wildfire Touch
Beginning at 11th level, you can strike with the voracious ferocity of a raging wildfire. You can roll one additional damage die when determining the extra damage for a critical hit with an unarmed attack or monk weapon.
Great Typhoon Flurry
At 17th level, the style's fluid and dynamic movements have unlocked an unearthly speed in your flourishes. When you use your Flurry of Blows, you can make an additional unarmed attack as part of the action. Once per turn you can deal DEX mod extra damage on an unarmed attack.
