Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

Your patron is a spirit of deduction and investigation.  Perhaps created by the world’s long-time belief in the character created by Arthur Conan Doyle, perhaps a being who existed before and inspired the stories, no one can be sure.  In return for your patron’s gifts, you seek out mysteries and investigate them to the best of your ability to solve them.

Deductive Trance

Starting at 1st level, you can manifest your patron’s deductive brilliance.  As a bonus action, you enter a state of heightened observation and deduction for one minute.  While in this state, you gain advantage on Perception and Investigation checks.  Once begun the trance cannot be ended until the minute has passed.

You can enter this state a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Startling Insights

Starting at 6th level, you know the Detect Thoughts spell and can cast it once per long rest.  The spell doesn’t count against your number of spells known.  Your Deductive Trance now gives you advantage on Insight checks as well.

Irregulars

Starting at 10th level, you have contact with a network of minor spirits.  One can be summoned at any time once per long rest to provide information regarding the surrounding area and the beings and influences therein. The precise extent and nature of the information available is left up to the DM.

Discombobulate

Starting at 14th level, when you enter a Deductive Trance you may roll a d20 and record the result. At any time during the duration of that trance, you may replace any attack roll, saving throw, or ability check made by you or a creature that you can see with this result. You must choose to do so before the roll, and you can replace a roll in this way only once per turn.
