Path of the Absolute Warrior

By lineage or luck, you have the ability to sense the latent magical essence in the world around you. Known as Absolution, you have learned to suffuse this energy throughout your body. Through practice and patience, you have discovered ways to tap into this power. Mixing this power with your rage focuses your mind with intent and resolve, like honing the power of a giant into the precision of a needle. Putting this power to work for you, you have become proficient with wielding the essence of Absolution. No warrior is more capable of defending their allies than the Absolute Warrior.

Power Surges

Absorbing the power of Absolution energy has taught you how to capture and contain some of it within your body for your own use. You gain the use of power surges and their quantity will increase as you level to always equal to half your level, rounded down. Power surges are restored when you use an ability to absorb Absolution power from the world around you.

Power surges can be maintained passively, without the need for concentration. However, if the Barbarian becomes unconscious, all Absolution power stored within their power surges is released harmlessly and invisibly into the air around them. 

All power surges can be recharged by a completing a 30-minute ritual during a short rest. If needed quickly, an action can be used to quickly recharge an amount of power surges equal to the barbarian's proficiency bonus. This quick recharge cannot be used again until the barbarian has completed a short or long rest.

Absolution Attunement Ritual

Absolution energy can be recharged via an Attunement Ritual. This ritual requires a short or long rest of no less than 30 minutes. Upon completion, the barbarian regains the maximum number of power surges for their level. 

This ritual purges stored energy, reattunes the Barbarian's senses to the Absolution energy around them, and then recharges the Barbarian's power surges pool.

Absolute Defender

Upon seeing a creature attempting to attack one of your allies with a weapon or spell attack with an attack roll, you can use your reaction to spend one or more power surges and quickly rush over to block the attack with your body. If there is an unoccupied space adjacent to the targeted ally, you can move up to your movement speed to such a space, forcing disadvantage on any opportunity attacks as Absolution power surges through your body, giving you incredible speed for a moment.

You prevent the attack from hitting your ally by putting yourself in harm's way. If the attack roll is equal to or greater than your AC, you take damage as the attack strikes you, otherwise the attack misses yourself and your ally. After applying resistances, the Absolution power surging within you temporarily numbs your nerves, further reducing the damage of the attack by a total equal to your rage value per power surge spent. 

Absorb Magic

Your attunement to Absolution energy has yielded the unexpected bonus of being able to rapidly recharge your power surges pool. You gain the Absorb Magic ability. 

The Absorb Magic ability allows you to use a reaction to quickly absorb magic energy from a damaging attack to recharge your power surges by an amount equal to your barbarian-class proficiency level. Once used, the Absorb Magic ability cannot be used again until you have completed a short or long rest.

Focused Furys

You have learned ways in which you can channel your Absolution power. 

Unstoppable Fury

• After seeing a creature strike an ally with a weapon or spell, your blood boils and you can use your bonus action at the start of your next turn to focus your fury into your strikes, increasing their damage for the round. Until the end of the round, you can spend one or more power surges on each hit on the creature, increasing the damage of your individual attacks by an amount equal to your rage damage for each power surge used in that individual weapon attack.

Undaunted Power

• When making a strength, dexterity, or constitution saving throw, you can spend your reaction to instantly channel your rage and bolster your defenses. Spend one or more power surges and add 1 to the total of saving throw per surge spent.

Absolute Awareness

You can charge every fiber of your being, improving your perception of the world around you! At any time, you can use your action and spend two or more power surges to enter a state of heightened awareness for 1 minute. By spending 2 power surges, any creature you can see or hear within 10ft of you cannot gain advantage on attacks against you, you gain blindsight against all creatures within the range of your Awareness, and your passive perception within this range increases by 2 for the duration. The range of your improved perception increases by 5ft and the bonus to your passive perception increases by 1 for each additional power surge spent at the start of this ability.

To extend the duration of this ability, the barbarian must spend power surges and a bonus action no different than if initiating this ability for the first time. Doing so, the ability's duration does not stack. Using this ability again ends any previous uses of this ability. If this ability is ended early by another execution of itself, there is no "down time" in the user's perception improvements. Rather, the bonuses to range and passive perception replace one another. 

Absolute Bulwark

Your body has adapted to better channel and retain Absolution power. Absolute Awareness now also grants +1 to your AC and dexterity saving throws per 2 power surges spent when engaging the ability.
