Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

Most Sorcerers are born with their powers or had them imbued into them in some way by an external force. Not you. At some point, you have died and your heart was replaced with a special plant called a Bodybroker. The Bodybroker brought you back to life, sans a heart of your own and keeps you alive while also granting you newfound botanical powers.

Arboreal Magic

1st-level Botanical Heart feature

You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the arboreal Spells table. Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of sorcerer spells you know.

Sorcerer Level Spells
1st animal friendship, goodberry
3rd barkskin, spike growth
5th plant growth, erupting earth
7th hallucinatory terrain, locate creature
9th tree stride, commune with nature

Arboreal Boon

1st-level Botanical Heart feature
Starting at 1st level, the plant that has replaced your heart looks to defend itself by automatically augmenting your defensive capabilities in response to combat. When you roll initiative, roll a d6. You gain an Arboreal Boon based on the roll of the die for 1 minute. After seeing the result, but before your first turn in combat, you may spend 1 Sorcery Point to reroll the d6, or 3 Sorcery Points to choose an Arboreal Boon instead. You may only ever have one Arboreal Boon at a time.

d6 Arboreal Boon
1 The vines in your veins react to danger in a pinch, pulling you out of danger that you may not have been able to dodge on your own. You gain the effects of the mage armor spell, this effect cannot be targeted by dispel magic or other similar effects.
2 You feel something blooming on the plant where your heart used to be, the blooming also encouraging your body to flourish. At the start of the round, roll a d4 plus your Charisma modifier. You gain that many temporary Hit Points. When this happens, you may spend 1 Sorcery Point to recover Hit Points instead. This die increases to a d6 at level 5, a d8 at level 10 and a d10 at level 15.
3 You feel the vines of the plant spread further into your body, wrapping themselves further around your vital organs. Critical hits against you become normal hits.
4 You feel the vines of the plant spread further into your body, sending smaller roots into your head. You gain resistance to psychic damage and immunity to the blinded and deafened conditions.
5 You feel the plant that has replaced your heart fortifying both its and your internal defences. If you are ever making death saving throws, you immediately stabilize at the start of the next turn in the initiative order. This Arboreal Boon is negated if the last damage type you took was Fire or Necrotic.
6  You feel the plant that has replaced your heart release invigorating pheromones into the rest of your body. You may use your bonus action to take the Dodge action.

Chlorophyllic

1st-level Botanical Heart feature
Also starting at 1st Level, you gain the ability to cast Speak with Plants at will, although you may not command plants to do anything if casting the spell with this feature. In addition, you are a valid target for the Speak with Plants spell cast by other creatures.

Rootstock

6th-level Botanical Heart feature
Upon reaching 6th level, you have learned how to root yourself for defensive purposes, much like the plant within you. At the end of your turn, if you have not taken any movement, you gain advantage on all checks and saving throws until the start of your next turn.

Photosynthesis

6th-level Botanical Heart feature
Also upon reaching 6th level, your physical body starts to become more in-tune with your new heart. If you have spent more than 4 hours outside during the day, or have been inside the radius of the Daylight or Dawn spell, you do not need to eat or sleep to gain the benefits of a long rest. However, you must still spend 4 hours doing light activity only and still must drink. If you have not spent 4 hours or more outside during the day, you must still eat and sleep for the full time required to gain the benefits of a long rest.

Coalescence

14th-level Botanical Heart feature
Starting at 14th level, you may spend a bonus action and 4 Sorcery Points to allow the Bodybroker greater control over your body until the start of your next turn. While in this state, you gain the following advantages:

- You gain proficiency in all saving throws.
- While you are on the ground, your AC increases by 2, you gain advantage on saving throws to save against the stunned and restrained conditions and if a spell requires a verbal component to cast, you may ignore it.

If you have used this feature in the previous turn, it costs 1 less Sorcery Point to use cumulatively to a minimum of 2 Sorcery Points.

Inflorescence, Infructescence

18th-level Botanical Heart feature
At 18th level, you and the plant are for all intents and purposes, in perfect symbiosis. Flesh protects cellulose and cellulose nourishes flesh. You gain resistance to all types of damage aside from Necrotic. You gain vulnerability to Necrotic damage.
