Blood Hunter
Base Class: Blood Hunter

This subclass is based on the Crimson Curse, a mechanic in the game "Darkest Dungeon", introduced in the Crimson Court DLC.

Those who join the Order of the Crimson Curse fight the curse to remain sane as its hunger for The Blood chips away at their mind. Those who manage to keep themselves sane gain the powers of the Curse without losing their minds.

 Quirks

As the Crimson Curse changes your body, your appearance changes. Roll a d4 to see what quirk you have or choose one from below.

1. Your eyes become entirely black, and you don't need to blink.

2. Your canines become flexible and mobile, and can bend slightly.

3. Your nose grows longer and becomes more pointy.

4. Small insectoid wings sprout from your back. However, they are too small to fly with.

Gather the Blood

The Crimson Curse has made you heavily dependent on a type of wine known as The Blood without which you cannot survive. You need to drink at least one bottle of The Blood every 30 days, or suffer 2 levels of exhaustion as well as have disadvantage on Intelligence and Wisdom Saves. This effects last until you drink The Blood.

Thankfully, the Order of the Crimson Curse teaches its members to brew The Blood. You gain proficiency with Brewer's Supplies.

Recipe of The Blood:  ½ pint Red Wine of high quality, ¼ pint blood of a normal living creature (preferably Humanoids), ¼ pint blood of one who's tainted by the curse(your can use your own blood). You can also use 20 gold coins instead to brew The Blood. The Blood takes 3 days to finish brewing.

The Thirst

Beginning at 3rd level, the Crimson Curse has begun to change your body and afflicting your mind with insatiable thirst for blood. As an Action, you can activate the Thirst. This feature can be used a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus before needing to take a Short Rest.

The Thirst: Using an Action, you suck out the blood of a creature, dealing Necrotic Damage equal to a number of Hemocraft dice equal to half your Blood Hunter level. If the creature has blood in its body and your health is below half your maximum hit points, you are healed for half the damage you deal.

Bloodthirsty Rite

At 7th level, you learn how to infuse weapons with the same bloodlust that the Crimson Curse induces. You gain a unique Rite: Rite of the Blood.

Rite of the Blood: When you make a successful attack, you are instead healed for one roll of your Hemocraft die.

Brand of the Overwhelming Thirst

Upon reaching 11th level, your hemocraft has altered your Brand of Castigation with the maddening craving for blood. A creature branded by you is forced to make a Wisdom Save at the beginning of its turn until the Brand is removed. On a failed save, the creature must use its Action to move towards the nearest creature it can see and make a melee attack against it, and then end its turn.

Blood Curse of Hemorrhage

At 15th level, your blood curse can make creatures bleed as their skin becomes thinner than paper. You learn the Blood Curse of Hemorrhage and it doesn't count against the number of Blood Curses you know.

Blood Curse of Hemorrhage: You curse a creature, making it receive extra Necrotic Damage equal to twice your Intelligence Modifier (minimum of 2) when it receives Piercing, Slashing or Necrotic Damage until the end of your next turn. The creature also receives Necrotic damage equal to half your Blood Hunter level at the beginning of its next turn.

Amplify: The creature also becomes vulnerable to Piercing, Slashing and Necrotic Damage, and the effects last for 1 minute.

Crimson Thirst

Beginning at 18th level, you gain complete control over the Crimson Curse that affects your body, able to transform into a monstrous, mosquito-like creature at will but retaining your mind. When you use The Thirst, you can choose to transform into a Bloodsucker, and gain the following effects:

  • You gain a flying speed of 45 ft, and a climbing speed of 30 ft.
  • You gain Darkvision upto 120 ft.
  • Creatures that you attack must make a Wisdom Save or be Frightened of you.
  • Using The Thirst heals you for the full damage dealt and heals you even if your health is above half your maximum hit points, and you do not have a limited use of The Thirst while in this form.
  • You are considered a Monstrosity while in this form.
  • Your Unarmed Strikes deal 10 piercing damage.

You can revert back into your normal form using a Bonus Action.
