Base Class: Ranger
The Shellwarden
"Marines, mercenaries, pirates...nothing leaves a wake quite like those damn Shellwardens. Stormy waters them, lad. And to think that - if you believe the ol' fisher's tale, that is - the devastating wakes that chase those damned riders and their wave-crushing dragon turtles across the Sword Coast and Sea of Stars were once just surfing techniques taught by some hippie Tortles from some far-away land. Let's see...Dragon Lance, was it? Agh, I don't know. I've been faring these open waters for more than 50 years, and I can't say I've ever come across no Dragon Lance. What I can tell you is this:
Whether you're fighting the tides for silk-trade, invading the coasts of the Dragonmere, or in a dog fight with Draga Salt-biter himself...if you see one of them rangers ripping scute through seafoam like a lance, you best drop sails, turn bow, and pray the great snapper likes the taste of your gold...or you're sunk."
Draconic Ancestry
3rd-Level Shellwarden Feature
The bond you share with your dragon turtle creates a connection to both dragonkind and turtlekind, granting you understanding and empowering your presence. You gain the following benefits:
Scute and Scales. You gain proficiency with heavy armor.
Tongue of Dragons. You learn to speak, read, and write Draconic and Aquan.
Dragon Turtle Companion
3rd-Level Shellwarden Feature
As an action, you can magically summon the dragon turtle that is bound to you. It appears in an unoccupied space of your choice within 30 feet of you.
The dragon turtle is friendly to you and your companions, and it obeys your commands. See its game statistics in the accompanying Dragon Turtle Companion stat block, which uses your proficiency bonus (PB) in several places. You can determine the cosmetic characteristics of the dragon turtle such as its color or scale texture; your choice has no effect on its game statistics.
In combat, the dragon turtle shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It can move and use its reaction on its own, but the only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action. If you are incapacitated, the dragon turtle can take any action of its choice, not just Dodge.
The dragon turtle remains until it is reduced to 0 hit points, until you use this feature to summon the dragon turtle again, or until you die. Anything the drake was wearing or carrying is left behind when the dragon turtle vanishes.
Once you summon the dragon turtle, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a spell slot of 1st level or higher to summon it.

Pocket Air. Creatures mounted on your dragon turtle can breathe under water.
Rending Tides. When the dragon turtle hits with the Bite attack action, it can make an additional Bite attack against the same creature.
Wave Breaker. When either you or the dragon turtle takes damage while you’re within 30 feet of each other, you can use your reaction to give yourself or the dragon turtle resistance to that instance of damage. You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
