Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Few barbarians take this path because there is no way back. Only death and destruction are found down this road with nothing in between.

The Madness Within

Starting at 3rd level, when you choose this subclass, your hit points are capped at half of your max HP. However, you ignore a portion of the damage you take by gaining resistance to any damage you receive. Also, you are always in an enraged state.

False Recovery/Shield Burst

When you or an ally reduce a creature within 5 feet of you to 0 hit points, you gain temporary hit points equal to your 1d12 + your barbarian level.

When you acquire temporary hit points in this way, you can, as a bonus action, unleash a shattering howl that attempts to frighten hostile creatures that can see or hear you in a 30 ft radius. Affected creatures must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw for 1 minute or receive force damage equal to your current temporary hit points which are consumed upon activating this feature. Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again.

Cull the Weak

You despise the weak and must purge any evidence of it. When you attack an enemy affected by the Charmed or Frightened condition you make one additional melee attack.

Avatar of Madness

14th-level Path of Madness feature

Starting at 14th level, when you are reduced to 0 hit points you do not fall unconscious. Instead, you ignore all damage, and you enter a state of insanity becoming the Avatar of Madness bent to kill all before you. You must attack the closest target to you, even if you consider them an ally. Also, when you attack a target you gain a point of exhaustion. You leave the state of insanity after 6 points of exhaustion or if you can't attack a target during your turn.
