Base Class: Rogue
You find yourself more attuned to the shadows they protect you speak to you and manifest for you in ways others cannot even imagine.
Shadow Hunter
You can use a bonus action to magically manifest a shadow of yourself in an unoccupied space you can see within 15 feet of you. This shadow lasts until it is destroyed, until you dismiss it as a bonus action, until you manifest another shadow, or until you’re incapacitated.
Your shadow has AC 14 + your proficiency bonus, 1 hit point, and immunity to all conditions. If it has to make a saving throw, it uses your saving throw bonus for the roll. It is the same size as you, and it occupies its space. On your turn, you can mentally command the shadow to move up to 30 feet in any direction (no action required). If your shadow is ever more than 30 feet from you at the end of your turn, it is destroyed. This distance increases to 90 feet at 9th level.
You can use the shadow in the following ways:
- As a bonus action, you can teleport, magically swapping places with your shadow regardless of the distance between the two of you.
- When you take the Attack action on your turn, any attack you make with that action can originate from your space or the shadow’s space. You make this choice for each attack.
- When a creature that you can see within 5 feet of your shadow moves at least 5 feet away from it, you can use your reaction to make an opportunity attack against that creature as if you were in the shadow’s space.
- You can temporarily transfer your consciousness to your shadow. As an action, you can see through your shadow’s eyes and hear through its ears. During this time, you are ">deafened and ">blinded. You can sustain this effect for up to 10 minutes, and you can end it at any time (requires no action). While your shadow is being used in this way, it can be up to 1,000 feet away from you without being destroyed.
Shadow Unleashed
You may choose to have your sneak attack damage deal necrotic damage.
Immediately after you deal your Sneak Attack damage to a creature on your turn, your shadow projection can target a second creature that you can see within 30 feet of the first creature. Roll half the number of Sneak Attack dice for your level (round up), and the second creature takes necrotic damage equal to the roll’s total.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Shadow Lord
You can use a bonus action to create two shadows with your Shadow projection feature, and these shadows can coexist. If you try to create a third shadow using this feature, the previous two shadows are destroyed. Anything you can do from one shadow’s position can be done from the other’s instead.
You can also use your reaction to command your shadows to force a creature you can see to succeed a Strength saving throw DC equal to 8+ your proficiency bonus, on a failed save your shadow can swap places with the creature. This reaction must be exactitude when an enemy makes an attack roll, but before the outcome of the dice roll is revealed.
(This can be used to essentially have enemies hit their comrades or your shadow can take the blow intended for you or your comrades.)
Shadow Walk
You can phase partially into the astral plane. As a bonus action, you assume a spectral form. While in this form, you have a flying speed of 10 feet, you can hover, and attack rolls have disadvantage against you. You can also move through creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain, but you take 1d10 force damage if you end your turn inside a creature or an object. If you are in dim light or darkness your flying speed doubles and you have advantage on stealth checks.
You stay in this form for 10 minutes or until you end it as a bonus action. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Shadow Monarch
When a life ends in your presence, you’re able to snatch a shadow. As a reaction when a creature you can see dies within 30 feet of you, you can manifest an additional shadow projection. Anything you can do from one shadow's position can be done from the other’s instead. You can only have one additional shadow using this feature and if this feature is used a shadow of your choice dissipates.
When you deal Sneak Attack damage on your turn, you can destroy one of your shadows and then immediately use Shadow Unleashed, without expending a use of that feature.
You can make your shadow throw itself in front of an attack directed at another creature or object that you can see. Before the attack roll is made, you can use your reaction to teleport the shadow to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the targeted creature/ object. The attack roll that triggered the reaction is instead made against your shadow. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
The distance that your shadow can travel away from you before it is destroyed increases to 90 feet.
When you use a reaction to perform your Shadow Lord feature you gain temporary hit points equal to your level.
You can use one of your shadows unleashed features to force a creature you can see to succeed a Strength saving throw DC equal to 8+ your proficiency bonus+ your intelligence modifier or become restrained by the creatures own shadow. If a creature is restrained in this way you may use the help action as a reaction.
In addition, when you roll initiative and have no uses of your Shadow Unleashed feature left, you regain one use of that feature.
