Base Class: Fighter
Mechanized Mercenaries are a rare breed of fighters who have undergone a life-altering self-modification procedure. These daring individuals replace their limbs with mechanical augmentations, and their hearts with an unstable core of raw arcane energy, transforming themselves into self-modified soldiers.
With their enhanced eyes, extendable limbs, integrated shields, and powerful exoskeletons, Mechanized Mercenaries have a wide range of modular augmentations at their disposal. Which they switch out often and effectively to be best adapted to whatever situation they may find themselves in.
Despite the benefits of these enhancements, becoming a Mechanized Mercenary is a perilous path to follow. The procedure is invasive and irreversible, and the risks involved in tinkering with one's own body are many. Only those with the utmost courage, determination, and skill have what it takes to become a Mechanized Mercenary.
Additional Tool Proficiencies
3rd level Mechanized Mercenary feature
You gain proficiency in Medicine & and Smith's Tools. If you have these proficiencies already you may choose another set of tools.
Modular Augmentations
3rd level Mechanized Mercenary feature
You have performed a life-altering, questionable procedure on yourself; replacing your limbs with those of artifice and your heart with an unstable core of arcane energy to power an array of mechanical augmentations. These artificial limbs are not inherently better than your original limbs, but they can be enhanced. At 3rd level you may attach 1 module. This increases to 2 at 7th level, 3 at 10th level, 4 at 15th level, and 5 at 18th level. You may replace one of your modules at the end of a short rest or any of them at the end of a long rest.
Enhanced Eyes
These specialized lensed orbs slot into your eye sockets and provide you with 120ft of darkvision that sees through both non-magical and magical darkness. In addition if you apply this augmentation at 5th level or greater you may cast Detect Magic and See Invisibility once each without expending a spell slot or providing material components. You regain the use of these spells at the beginning of your next long rest.
Extendable Limbs
You have modified your arms and legs so that they can extend at will. Your melee range increases by five feet and you may use a bonus action to increase your height by up to five feet or return your height to normal.
Integrated Shield
You have integrated an adjustable mount to your off-arm so that you may wield a shield while having both of your hands free.
Life Support Systems
Prerequisite: 15th level
You have attuned your life force to the power of your arcane heart. As a bonus action you may end one blinded, deafened, paralyzed, or poisoned condition effecting you. You may use this feature an amount of times equal to your CON modifier. You regain all expended uses of this ability at the end of a long rest.
Mechanical Wings
Prerequisite: 10th level
You have altered your shoulder blades so that they can serve as mounts for lightweight wings of artifice. You gain a flying speed of 30ft. You cannot gain this speed when wearing medium or heavy armor.
Plated Augmentations
You have plated your augments with a strong, metal armor. You gain a +2 bonus to your Armor Class.
Powerful Exoskeleton
Prerequisite: 15th level
You attach a magically fueled exoskeleton to your mechanical parts that greatly increase your normal physical limits. Your strength score and maximum both increase by 4. In addition you may treat your character as one size larger for the sake of carrying capacity and push, drag, and lift weight.
Self-Repairing Systems
Prerequisite: 18th level
Your augmentations have been modified to repair your body as well as themselves when damaged. At the beginning of your turn you regain hit points equal to your CON modifier (a minimum of one). In addition you can reattach a severed limb by holding it to where it was severed from.
Spring Loaded Legs
Prerequisite: 7th level
You install magically powered hydraulics into your legs. Your Walking speed increases by 10 feet and your jumping distance is tripled. In addition you can reduce the amount of falling damage you take by your CON score.
Arcane Barrier
7th Level Mechanized Mercenary Feature
Your arcane heart has grown strong enough to create a protective barrier of raw arcane energy. As a bonus action, you can create a shield of arcane energy around yourself, providing temporary hit points equal to twice your fighter level.
While the shield is active, you can unleash a blast of arcane energy as an action, dealing force damage to all creatures within a 15-foot cone. The damage dealt is equal to the remaining temporary hit points provided by the shield. After using the blast, your shield dissipates, and you lose the temporary hit points it provided.
Once you use this ability, you can’t do so again until you finish a short or long rest.
More Machine Than Flesh
10th Level Mechanized Mercenary Feature
Your arcane heart sustains your metabolic processes, you no longer require food, water, or air to survive.
Adaptive Augmentations
15th Level Mechanized Mercenary Feature
Your mechanical prosthetics have been modified to radically restructure, if need be, to adapt to the situation at hand. As a bonus action, you may swap out any number of your modules for different ones you have available. This feature can only be used once per short rest.
Arcane Overdrive
18th Level Mechanized Mercenary Feature
You can tap into the raw arcane energy within your core to push your mechanical augmentations beyond your normal limits. You can activate your Arcane Overdrive as a bonus action. Your Arcane Overdrive lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action.
While your Arcane Overdrive is active, you gain the following benefits:
- Your movement speed is doubled.
- You gain an additional action on each of your turns that can be used to attack (one weapon attack only), dash, disengage, or use an object.
- You gain advantage on all Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution saving throws.
- You gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
Once your Arcane Overdrive ends, you suffer one level of exhaustion. Once you activate Arcane Overdrive, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.
