Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Most Barbarians are masters of their rage, a bestial impulse they have learned to hone and control. However, there are some who open the door to their inner wrath, often unintentionally, only to find that the door will not close again.

Sometimes this can be due to external forces, such as curses or possession. Sometimes it was self inflicted, through scientific or mystical experiments. Sometimes anger or bloodlust simply becomes an addiction.

Once the monster within is unchained, it can twist the body into something monstrous as it grows.

Gazing Abyss

3rd-level Path of the Transformed feature

When you step onto the Path of the Transformed at 3rd level, your rage has begun to consume you. You become more than you were before, but also less.

You gain proficiency with Alchemist's supplies and the Medicine skill. These may have been learned in your attempts to cure your condition, or perhaps their misuse was the cause of that condition in the first place.

You now find yourself strangely energized when resorting to violence, as the monster within you feeds. This feeling may disgust you or it may appeal to you, depending on your disposition.

Once per turn, when you deal damage to an enemy, you can choose to gain temporary hit points equal half of the damage you dealt with any one attack, rounded down. As usual, this will replace any temporary hit points you already have. These temporary hit points disappear at the beginning of your next turn.

Waning Ego

3rd-level Path of the Transformed feature

You have the following traits whenever you are not in a Rage:

  • Disadvantage on all rolls that use Strength (including attack rolls) or Constitution.
  • A penalty of -5 to your Armor Class.
  • The only weapons you can wield with proficiency are Light Crossbows, Slings, or weapons with the Light property.
  • You may Hide as a Bonus Action.

Another serious drawback is the toll this unnatural transformation takes on your body. When your rage ends, for any reason, you immediately fall prone and are stunned until the beginning of your next turn. Once you are no longer incapacitated, you are still unable to activate your rage again for 1d4 rounds.

Waxing Id

3rd-level Path of the Transformed feature

The most obvious change at level 3 is that your body now undergoes a transformation when you enter a rage, becoming increasingly monstrous and alien. Roll once on the Raging Anomaly table to determine how your appearance changes while transformed by rage.

When your Rage ends, you revert to your normal form within a few seconds.
While raging, you have the following traits:

  • Disadvantage on all rolls that use Intelligence or Wisdom.
  • You cannot load or fire any weapon with the Ammunition property.
  • Proficiency with Improvised Weapons.
  • Your unarmed strikes deal 1d8 bludgeoning damage, plus your Strength modifier.
  • Whenever you take damage, you may add half of your Proficiency bonus to your additional Rage damage until end of your next turn.

Amplified

6th-level Path of the Transformed feature

At 6th level, when raging, you count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.

You may now also add your rage damage to thrown weapons. (Including Improvised Weapons)

Roll again on the Raging Anomaly table to add a second anomalous aspect to your transformed form.

Unyielding

10th-level Path of the Transformed feature

Starting at 10th level, you become immune to any spell or effect that would alter your form unless you choose to allow it. However, you may only choose to allow such effects when you are not raging.

While raging, your attacks now count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance to non-magical damage.

Roll once more on the Raging Anomaly table to add a third anomalous aspect to your transformed form.

Rampage

14th-level Path of the Transformed feature

Once you reach level 14, you can fully unleash your inner monster in times of desperation. As a reaction when an ally you can see or hear becomes incapacitated or killed, you can begin a Rampage. If your Rage was not already active, you may immediately begin one if there is nothing otherwise preventing you from beginning a Rage.

The Rampage allows you to take one full turn immediately after the current creature's turn ends. Once this extra turn ends, your rage ends and your form reverts, but you gain a level of exhaustion instead of being stunned.

After using Rampage, you are unable to rage again until all levels of exhaustion have been removed.

Roll one more time on the Raging Anomaly table to add a fourth anomalous aspect to your transformed form.
