Base Class: Paladin
The world is full of mysteries. Sometimes dangerous secrets that need to be kept secret and others, malicious plans that need revealing.
The recommended deities for a Paladin of the Oath of exploration are those that have to do with Knowledge, Secrets, Nature or the Hunt. Alternatively, some group patrons may encourage the taking of this oath by followers that are interested. These patrons will tend to care about knowledge, whether shared or kept secret, and may range from learning institutions to powerful beings such as dragons, fiends or sphinxes.

Channel Divinity
3rd-level Oath of the Watchers feature
You gain the following Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.
Scout's Approach. For 1 hour, you and any creatures you choose within 30 feet of you become unaffected by disadvantages to stealth checks, by difficult terrain nor by penalties to travelling at a normal or fast pace. Additionally, for the duration, your jump distance is doubled and you reduce fall damage by the value of your Armor Class. If you didn't have disadvantage on stealth checks before using the Scout's Approach, you gain advantage on stealth checks instead.
Divine Divination. As a bonus action, you can divine knowledge about a creature you can see within 30 feet of you. When you use a Divine Smite on an attack that hit against a creature, you can choose to divine knowledge about it without the need to expend a bonus action.
You have advantage when trying to recall knowledge about a creature you have used this feature on.
If you divine knowledge about a creature as part of a Divine Smite, you immediately learn its damage resistances, damage vulnerabilities and damage immunities. Additionally, you can choose to bless your offense or your defense against it for the next 1 minute.
If you choose offense, you can add a d4 when you roll to attack it, and the creature must subtract a d4 when rolling saving throws against your spells.
If you choose defense, the creature must subtract a d4 on attack rolls against you, and you can add a d4 when rolling saving throws against its features or spells.
Aura of Examination
7th-level Oath of the Watchers feature
You can add your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1) to your passive perception and your initiative. When you use your Scout's Approach feature, the creatures you choose also gain this benefit.
Additionally, you may add your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1) to any investigation or survival checks you perform or help with.
Curiosity Allowance
15th-level Oath of the Watchers feature
You can use your action to leave a spectral duplicate of you on your position. For the next 10 minutes, it remains on that position (if you were on a vehicle or being moved, it will continue to move appropriately). For the duration, you can use an action to immediately teleport to the position of the duplicate and take its place. When the time expires or if you are incapacitated, the duplicate disappears and you can not go back.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a 5th-level spell slot or higher to use it again.
Avatar of Inquisitiveness
20th-level Oath of the Watchers feature
As a bonus action you can magically enter an enhanced state, taking on an appearance that you choose for 1 hour:
As an avatar of balance, you take on a bestial or plant-like appearance, and grow a pair of spectral wings, gaining a flight speed of 60 feet.
As an avatar of knowledge, you take on an arcane appearance, start hovering and gain a flight speed equal to your movement speed.
In both cases, you gain the following additional benefits:
- You gain truesight with a range of 120 feet.
- Your terrible beauty causes all your Charisma checks have advantage.
- You have advantage on attack rolls against any type of creature you have divined knowledge on before.
- When you hit a creature with a melee attack, you can choose for it to deal no damage. The attack phases through the target and it becomes unable to speak a deliberate lie until it finishes a long rest. If you used a divine smite on the attack, you can choose for the attack to still deal damage and you can attempt to force a truthful answer to a question out of the target. It must succeed on a Charisma Saving Throw against your Spell DC or be forced to answer to your question.
