Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Paladins under the Oath of Spite are those who have dedicated their lives to show all those who wronged them, even if only mildly, true malice, and to encourage all those around them to never heed to anyone who would bring them down or break their spirits. sometimes called knights of bitterness or knights of malice, paladins under the Oath of Spite fight so that everyone has control of their own destiny, shattering anyone who would say otherwise, believing that there is no place in this world for those who seek to undermine the dreams of others.

Tenets of Spite

The tenets of Spite are those fueled by emotion, ambition, and anger, as they are preserved within a paladins heart and inscribed on their armor.

Defiance of Hate. If someone is to doubt your abilities to achieve your goals, you must work relentlessly, and dedicate yourself fully to accomplishing that goal to the best of your ability in defiance to their doubt.

Guardian of dreamers. you are to never undermine or belittle someone for their desires, and if someone expresses hatred or doubt towards the dreams and goals of the people around you, you must see to it that those goals are to be fulfilled, and that those who had doubt in their hearts are there to see it.

Vengeance For The Hopeful. those who go out of their way and seek to sabotage and destroy the dreams and goals of others and of yourself, are your enemy, and must be struck down and humiliated for their crimes against hope.

As an action, you imbue your weapon with spiritual power fueled by your emotions, using your channel divinity. the next 2 attacks made with this weapon have a bonus to attack rolls and damage equal to twice your proficiency bonus, and if hit, an enemy must make a wisdom saving throw, getting disadvantage on their next two rolls on a failed throw
  • Turn The Nonbelievers. As an action you can let out all your anger in form of a magical wave, forcing every creature of your choice within 60 ft to make a wisdom saving throw, on a failed throw, the creature is frightened by you and can no longer attack 1 creature of your choice. on a successful one, the creature has disadvantage on their next roll.

Aura of Malice

Starting at 7th level, you emit an aura of hate towards those who appose you and your allies. The aura extends 10 feet from you in every direction, but not through total cover.

when you take damage, one creature of your choice that is within the aura must make a constitution saving throw, on a failed throw you can use your reaction to deal 3d6 psychic damage to the creature.

additionally, whenever a creature enters the aura for the first time, they must make a wisdom saving throw, on a failed throw, you can use your reaction an attack roll against that creature with a 2nd level divine smite without expending a spell slot. this effect only activates once for each creature.

Deny The Hateful

At 15th level, your emotions manifest magically around you, as you deny the powers of those who seek to hurt you. When being forced to make a saving throw of any kind you can use your reaction to cancel out the effects, and force the creature that made you make the saving throw to make it instead, taking psychic damage equal to your paladin level on a failed throw.

you can use this feature an amount of times equal to half your proficiency bonus rounded down (minimum of 1), you regain all expended uses on a long rest.

Spiteful Rage

At 20th level, you can express all the anger and hatred within you towards those who seek to deny your success. As an action, you can magically become an avatar of spite, gaining the following benefits for 1 minute:

  • you have resistance to all magical damage.
  • when you use divine smite you add damage to it equal to half your paladin level.
  • when you take damage, you can use your reaction to expend a spell slot to force the creature that dealt the damage to make a wisdom saving throw, on a failed throw, they take psychic damage equal to 1d12 per spell slot level.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
