Artificer
Base Class: Artificer

An artificer who specializes as a Constructor creates objects and utilities through hard work. The things they make from wood are magically enhanced to take a bit more of a beating, and be made faster. These artificers are typically found as workers and handymen throughout towns and villages.

Constructor Spells

3rd-level Constructor feature

You always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Constructor Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Buildable Contraptions

3rd-level Constructor feature

As an action, on any of your given turns, you can create a wooden contraption. These contraptions each have a number of hit points equal to your Intelligence Modifier multiplied by your Class Level, and are vulnerable to fire damage and is immune to psychic damage. Your contraptions AC is 12. It automatically fails all saving throws. Breaking it using a strength check contests your Spell Save DC. Your contraption counts as an object for spells like Mending or Shatter. If targeted by the Mending spell, the contraption regains a number of hit points equal to the casters Spellcasting Modifier.

When you take an action to build a contraption, select the type of contraption you want to build. Your options are a Wall, a Bridge, or a Ladder, which are detailed below.

Wall. Select a point you can see within 5 feet of you, and extend it horizontally to take up 15 feet of space in total. The wall is 5 feet tall. The wall acts as full cover, blocking sight from both sides. The wall can be targeted, and takes damage as if it were a creature. When you make the wall, you can attempt to extend it by making a Carpenter's Tools check, using your Intelligence. The DC starts at 10, and increases by 5 for each 5 foot increase to the width or height. Failing the check means the build is not made, and your use is wasted.

Bridge. Extending out from in front of you, a wooden bridge up to 15 foot long and 10 feet wide is constructed. The bridge can hold a number of pounds equal to your Intelligence Carrying Capacity (your intelligence score multiplied by 15.) If that limit is exceeded then the bridge takes damage equal to half the weight of the creature. The bridge can be targeted, and takes damage as if it were a creature. When you make the bridge, you can attempt to extend it by making a Carpenter's Tools check, using your Intelligence. The DC starts at 10, and increases by 5 for each 5 foot increase to the length or width. Failing the check means the build is not made, and your use is wasted.

Ladder. Extending out from in front of you, a wooden ladder extends up to 15 feet vertically. Creatures can use this ladder, when moving into this space to climb up it. The ladder is not difficult terrain, and counts as regular movement to climb it. No checks are required to scale it. The ladder can be targeted, and takes damage as if it were a creature. When you make the ladder, you can attempt to extend it by making a Carpenter's Tools check, using your Intelligence. The DC starts at 10, and increases by 5 for each 5 foot increase to the height. Failing the check means the build is not made, and your use is wasted.

You can build contraptions a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, before needing to take a long rest to build one again.

Sturdy Contraptions

5th-level Constructor feature

When you build a contraption, using your action, you can also expend your Bonus Action to make it more durable. Increasing the contraptions AC an amount equal to your Intelligence Modifier, and giving it additional hit points equal to your class level multiplied by three.

If you use this bonus action, then the DC needed to increase the size of your contraptions starts at 5 instead of 10.

Contraption Repair

9th-level Constructor feature

While you are within 5 feet of your contraption, you can spend your Bonus Action to attempt to repair the contraption. Make a Carpenter's Tools check using your Intelligence.

If the total does not exceed 10, then the contraption regains no hit points.
If you exceed 10, then it regains 1d10 hit points.
If you exceed 15, then it regains 2d10 hit points.
If you exceed 20 or more, then it regains 4d10 hit points.

Construction Mastery

15th-level Constructor feature

Over the course of a Long Rest, you can build something, given you have the Blueprints. The things you can build must be made from wood or something that can be built using the tool proficiencies you have, at DM Discretion.

In order to create a blueprint, you must be able to see the thing you want to make, have a piece of ready parchment, and succeed an Investigation check. The DC of which is determined by the DM. Once you have a blueprint, you can choose to make it on any of your long rests going forward, unless the blueprint is destroyed. Making a blueprint takes 10 minutes.
