Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

Those who master the art of ritual casting are lauded by some for their mastery over the arcane weave of magic and scorned by others who believe ritualists are tampering with a force that is better left unchanged. As a ritualist, you seek to harness the very nature of magic and alter it to better suit your needs, for good or ill.

Ritual Savant

Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, the gold and time you must spend to copy a ritual spell, from any school of magic, into your spellbook is halved.

Cursed Rites

Starting at 2nd level, you choose three spells in your spellbook. These spells do not have to be ritual spells. For you, these spells become special ritual spells called cursed rites. If you choose a spell that lacks the ritual tag, you can still cast it as a ritual. Whenever you gain levels in this class, you can choose one of the cursed rites you know and replace it with another spell in your spellbook. The original cursed rite spell then reverts to its original nature. A spell of 5th level or higher cannot be become a cursed rite.

Invoke the Curse

Beginning at 6th level, when you cast a cursed rite spell, you can choose a benefit from the following options:

  • You heal a number of hit points equal to 2d8 per spell level of the cursed rite spell
  • You gain resistance to necrotic damage until the end of your next short or long rest
  • You can add your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1) to the damage of your wizard cantrips until the end of your next short or long rest
  • You gain proficiency in Constitution saving throws until the end of your next short or long rest

Once you choose one of these benefits, you must finish a short or long rest before you can choose another, even if you cast another cursed rite spell.

Student of Ritualism

At 10th level, you choose three more spells in your spellbook. These spells become cursed rites. In addition, the longer ritual casting time of your cursed rite spells is reduced from ten minutes to five minutes.

Master of the Grand Rite

When you reach 14th level, you may cast a non-ritual spell you know of 7th level or lower as a ritual. Once you use this feature, you must finish a long rest before you can use it again.
