Base Class: Fighter
Trained to rely on their shields for defense rather than heavy armor.
Shield Fighter
When you are not wearing heavy armor, and wielding a shield, you gain a +4 ac bonus from your shield rather than +2. In addition, you can perform a melee attack with your shield as a bonus action, dealing 1d6 plus your strength modifier (bludgeoning damage). The damage increases by 1d6 at 7th, 10th, 15th, and 18th level.
Eager for Battle
Starting at 7th level, When you take your first turn in initiative, you can take the dash action as a bonus action.
Taking the Brunt
When you are caught in an area effect (such as a line, sphere, etc), you can expend your reaction to gain resistance to the damage, and stop the effect from effecting the area directly behind you (such as, if you are caught in a lightning bolt, using this action means the bolt stops when it hits you.)
Blood Lust
When you take your first turn in initiative, you have advantage on your attacks for that turn. If you enter combat without a use of your second wind, you gain one use.
Shield Master
At 18th level, when you are not wearing heavy armor, and wielding a shield, you gain a +6 ac bonus from your shield rather than +2.
