Bard
Base Class: Bard

Much wisdom, both wanted and unwanted, has been shared among many generations of fatherhood. Sometimes known as Dad Bards, students of the College of the Fathers seek to compile, store and repeat this wisdom for those in need of fatherly advice. Many a traveler has heard the words of their own father resonating in the jokes and speeches of the Dad Bard.

Bad Dad Jokes

When you join the College of Lore at 3rd level, you learn a repertoire of horrible puns and terribly bad jokes. You learn the Vicious Mockery cantrip, which does not count against your spells known. When you cast Vicious Mockery the saving throw is made at disadvantage and uses your Bardic Inspiration die for damage. This does not expend any of your Bardic Inspiration, rather is just a reflection of how horrifyingly bad the groaners you tell become.

Additionally as a bonus action you cause the intended target to repeat the joke, affecting another creature of your choice within ten feet of it for the standard 1d4 psychic damage on a failed save. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier, and regain all uses of this ability after a short or long rest.

Fatherly Wisdom

Also at 3rd level, you have studied the lore of the Fathers and gain proficiency in the Insight skill. Additionally, you add your Charisma modifier as a bonus to your Insight skill checks.

You can bestow upon your allies the collective wisdom of The Fathers, granting your Bardic Inspiration Die as a reaction to one ally within 60 feet when it makes a Wisdom based skill check or saving throw. You may declare this before or after the die is rolled, but not after the outcome has been announced.

I'm Just Resting My Eyes

At 6th level, you have mastered a time-warping ability to condense eight hours of sleep into a one-hour nap. During a Short Rest, you can gain the full benefits of a Long Rest. Once you use this ability, you cannot use it again until you complete a Long Rest. You can only gain the benefits of a Long Rest once in a 24-hour time period.

Body of the Fathers

Starting at 14th level, you can tell tales of your own (possibly exaggerated) or another's physical feats of strength, dexterity or constitution, physically transforming your body to match the tale you tell. As an action or bonus action each round, you replace one of your physical attributes (Strength, Dexterity or Constitution score) with your Charisma score for up to one minute. You can use this ability a number of minutes equal to your proficiency modifier and regain all uses of this ability after a Long Rest.
