Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Some find forgiveness in the eyes of a deity. Others can't rest until they find forgiveness in their own eyes. After years causing violence and pain, the only path to redemption for a Path of the Penitent Barbarian is through sacrificial suffering. Their remorse drives them to endure blow after blow without falling, as falling would end their life before their self-determined sentence has been served.

Sacrificial Boldness

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, your desire for redemption innures you to pain. When you rage and at the start of every turn while raging, roll 1d4 and gain Temporary Hit Points equal to that die result plus your CON modifier. Every creature you attack on a turn while raging has advantage on attacks against you until the start of your next turn.

Grizzly Visage

Beginning at 6th level, your scarring is deeply unsettling to most who see you. You gain Proficiency in Intimidation. If you already had Proficiency, gain Expertise in Intimidation.

Horror of the Bloody Stoic

Beginning at 10th level, your raw, stoic endurance is enough to intimidate your foes with no effort put forth on your part. Whenever you have Temp HP from your Rage, any enemy that can see that hits you with a melee attack must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC equal to 8 + PB + CHA) [or Temp HP + PB + CHA] on their first successful hit or be frightened of you until the end of your next turn.  This effect ends if the creature ends its turn out of line of sight or more than 60 feet away from you.

If the creature succeeds on its saving throw, you can’t use this feature on that creature again for 24 hours.

Compelled to Redemption

Beginning at 14th level, your drive for redemption through suffering allows you to shrug off fatal blows.

While you’re raging, having 0 hit points doesn’t knock you unconscious. You still must make death saving throws, and you suffer the normal effects of taking damage while at 0 hit points. However, if you would die due to failing death saving throws, you don’t die until your rage ends, and you die then only if you still have 0 hit points.
