Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

A young wizard dressed in modest clothes sat at the edge of a stage, patiently waiting for his turn to speak. After a long-winded introduction and polite applause, he stepped up to the lectern to share his findings, spreading out his crumpled papers along the large wooden slab. As he started to speak, more and more began to listen. He proposed a new type of magic. This magic, and the wizard, promised incredible power. He believed his magic could open a portal to a new dimension. All with evidence it actually existed.

"I have discovered something great," he said. "All I need is your help"

The audience erupted into fervent applause, enraptured by this new science, this incredible magic that he promised. The wizard smiled, knowing he had gained their support. What the audience didn't know was that he was lying.

The study of Umbramancy is a theoretical one, with none actually being able to give evidence of real created. Synthesized shadow magic appears to be impossible to create - only the usage of real shadows is proven to be real. But many still argue for its existence. From what you have learned in your studies, Umbramancy uses both the raw power of shadows around the world and the theoretical, refined power of synthesized shadows. You, as a student of Umbramancy, have only studied historical arguments of the reality of this magic, and you desperately want something more. Perhaps you wish to prove its existence. Maybe you even want to wield the power yourself. But one thing is for certain - you will stop at nothing to reach your goal.

Umbral Portal

Beginning at 2nd level, you have learned how to distort your body with shadows.

You may take a bonus action to shift your body into a shadow created by an object, creature or any other thing that makes a shadow. While doing so, you may take no actions until you have shifted out of the shadow. In this state, you cannot be seen or sensed, even by a creature with truesight or blindsight. You may take another bonus action to shift out of the shadow. While in the shadow, you may teleport over to another shadow within 30 feet and rest there. However, you may only do this once a turn.

Additionally, in dim light, you have mastered the ability to blend in, making you invisible to all others except those with truesight and blindsight, and in darkness, you cannot be seen or sensed, even by a creature with truesight or blindsight. In both dim light and darkness, your senses are heightened, giving you advantage on all attacks made, even if your opponent can see or sense you.

Gloomy Regeneration

Starting at 2nd level, you regain 1d4 - 1 hit points every turn you're shifted into a shadow.

Shadow Distortion

At 6th level, you have gained the ability to control a shadow's energy.

You may drain a shadow's darkness within 15 feet of you and transform it into a ball of shadowy energy. You may then use it either as a shadow bomb, turning everything around it in a 10 ft radius into dim light, or as a normal shadow that you may place on any surface.

Shadow Creation

At 10th level, you have gained the ability to synthesize shadows from your fingertips, even in broad daylight.

You may create a shadow on any surface up to 10 feet away or create darkness in a 5 foot radius and dim light for an additional 5 feet. Additionally, you may use a bonus action to cloud someone's vision as if they were in darkness, blinding them for 1 round.

Penumbral Concealment

Starting at 14th level, you have now mastered the art of wielding shadows to your advantage.

When you use Shadow Creation, you can choose to envelop an object, creature or thing, not including you, in darkness. The darkness will disappear, leaving only a blank space. Creatures with blindsight and truesight cannot see or sense these hidden things, nor can they be touched.

Additionally, when you use Umbral Portal, you may choose to have the shadow you are currently residing in disappear.
