Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

You have made a pact with one of the most dangerous entities of the realms. Your patron is an entity that possesses mastery over the undead, wielding forbidden power that even the gods may fear in order to accomplish its vile ambitions. Having defied death in their own lives, the lords of this pact share their profane knowledge with the living, eager to find agents to serve their will on the mortal planes.

Your patron may be one of the many Darklords that inhabit Ravenloft's Domains of Dread. Perhaps you have signed your soul to the Demon Lord, Orcus, or, perhaps you have acquired the knowledge of an immortal lich, or a vampire lord.

Expanded Spell List

The Necromancer lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Death's Door

At 1st level, your patron lets you rise from death, much like the undead creatures of their domain. When damage reduces you to 0 hit points, you can make a Charisma saving throw (DC 5 + the damage taken). On a success, you instead drop to 1 hit point. You can't use this feature if you are reduced to 0 hit points by radiant damage or by a critical hit.

After the saving throw succeeds, you can't use this feature again until you finish a long rest.

Undying Loyalty

When you reach 6th level, your patron’s influence has a profound effect on your body. You no longer need to eat, drink, or breathe.

Furthermore, you learn the Animate Dead spell, which doesn't count against your total number of spells known, and it counts as a warlock spell for you. You can only maintain control over a number of undead created by this spell equal to your proficiency bonus, and you do not lose control of them after 24 hours. These conditions applies regardless of whether the spell is cast using a warlock spell slot.

Whenever you create an undead creature using a necromancy spell, it gains the following benefits:

  • The creature's hit point maximum is increased by an amount equal to twice your warlock level.
  • The creature attacks count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistances and immunities to nonmagical attacks and damage.
  • The creature adds your proficiency bonus to its damage rolls. The creature ignores this benefit if it already adds your proficiency bonus to the roll, such as when a creature benefits from the Undead Thralls feature.

Dominion of Eternity

At 10th level, you can use an action to assert your patron's authority over an undead creature you can see within 30 feet of you. The target must make a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, the target must obey your commands for the next 24 hours, or until you use this feature again. An undead whose challenge rating is equal to or greater than your warlock level is immune to this effect.

Once you use this ability, you cannot do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

Lord of Dread

At 14th level, your patron channels negative energy directly through you. Spells you cast ignore resistance to necrotic damage. Furthermore, when you cast a necromancy spell that creates or summons an undead creature, treat the spell's level as being two levels higher than the level of the slot used to cast the spell.

Finally, if an undead creature you summon forces its target to make a saving throw, it uses your spell save DC.
