Base Class: Monk
A monk who follows the Way of the Soothsayer believes every being in the universe is merely a drop of water in the ceaselessly flowing river of life. They see the ki energy that connects all beings as the binding agent for this flow of time and destiny. By controlling their ki, Soothsayers are able to form predictions of the future and, in some cases, step outside the flow of fate.
Eyes of the Soothsayer
3rd-level Way of the Soothsayer feature
Your mastery of your ki allows you look past the illusion of the present. As a bonus action, you can spend a number of ki points not exceeding your proficiency bonus to peer into the future. For ever ki point spent in this manner, roll 1d20 twice and record the value and order of all rolls. The next time a d20 would be rolled by any player or the DM, use the first value on your list, and then remove it. This remains in effect until you have used all your rolls, or upon the completion of a short or long rest.
Rite of the Soothsayer
3rd level Way of the Soothsayer feature
Through careful focus over an extended period of time, a Soothsayer can read the ever-winding threads of ki energy that predict the future. At level 3, the Way of the Soothsayer can cast Augury as a ritual without expending any spell slots.
Advice of the Soothsayer
6th-level Way of the Soothsayer feature
You can alter the flow of ki on the battlefield to allow another creature to react to your visions of the future. As an action, you can spend 1 ki point to target one creature and allow it to use its reaction to take any action it could take on its turn. The target must be able to hear and understand you.
Rite of the Soothsayer
6th level Way of the Soothsayer feature
Through careful focus over an extended period of time, a Soothsayer can read the ever-winding threads of ki energy that predict the future. At level 6, the Way of the Soothsayer has improved his perception of the flow of ki in the world and can cast Divination as a ritual without expending any spell slots.
Sense of the Soothsayer
11th-level Way of the Soothsayer feature
When you have predictions remaining from your last use of the Eyes of the Soothsayer class feature, your precognition improves your awareness of the battlefield around you, improving your ability to dodge attacks and avoid danger.
While the Eyes of the Soothsayer are active, you gain the following benefits.
- You may add your proficiency bonus to your armor class.
- You have advantage on all dexterity saving throws.
Rite of the Soothsayer
11th level Way of the Soothsayer feature
Through careful focus over an extended period of time, a Soothsayer can read the ever-winding threads of ki energy that predict the future. At level 11, a Soothsayer has mastered his perception of the ki that forms the timestream. You can cast Commune as a ritual without expending any spell slots.
Third Eye of the Soothsayer
17th-level Way of the Soothsayer feature
Your connection to the ki timestream is complete, allowing you to read the future as you would an open book. When using the Eyes of the Soothsayer class feature, you may roll a third d20 for each ki point spent in this way.

Posted Jul 4, 2022The concept for this was inspired by Shulk's abilities from Xenoblade Chronicles, although it hopefully is written in a way that allows it to be flavored in custom ways to make your character look/act/play like you would like it to play. Not all the features really work well with DnDBeyond's automatic character sheets, unfortunately. This is due to limitations within the homebrew menu.
If you have any suggestions, critiques, or ideas, I would love to hear them so I can improve the concept further.
