Bard
Base Class: Bard

Members of the College of Arcane Mixology refer to themselves jokingly as "Arcane Mixters." They mix and serve their concoctions as performance art: some spin and toss bottles and glasses as they build the perfect drink, others perform precise, minute ballets with their hands and ingredients, others tell rousing stories or sing stirring songs as they mix. They are as proficient at choosing the perfect win pairing or malted brew as they are at mixing cocktails - some may even specialize as consultants or sommeliers, rather than focusing on mixing. All find joy in sharing their creations, and even their non-magical concoctions and selections bring delight to anyone who tastes them. Whatever the location - local pub, high-end bar, dank dungeon, or deep forest - an Arcane Mixter's presence is a welcome addition.

Drinks made and served by Arcane Mixologists need not be alcoholic. Their flair for combining ingredients in just the right proportions at just the right temperatures extends to non-alcoholic drinks as it does to liquors and brews.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of Arcane Mixology at 3rd level, you gain the following proficiencies:

-Tool: Mixology Kit

-Skill: Knowledge - Beverages

The Arcane Mixter

The Arcane Mixter knows a great deal about the history, origins, distillation, and effects of all manner of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. This does not meant they can craft such, but their academic knowledge is broad and deep, and can extend to cultural and religious practices as well as social.

In addition, upon join the College of Arcane Mixology at 3rd level, a Bard receives a special Mixology Kit: a padded case or bandolier with a special cocktail shaker, strainer, grater, jigger, muddler, stirrer, glasses, 23 small bottles for alcohol & mixers, various herbs, fresh, dried, and pickled fruits and vegetables, vials and stoppers, and 2 coldstones.

Mystic Libations: Liquid Courage

At 3rd Level, an Arcane Mixter may expend one use of Bardic Inspiration and spend at least one minute crafting a delicious Mystic Libation using their Mixology Kit. This process cannot be hastened, as Arcane Mixology is an art, and is as much about performance during the ritual as anything else. Without the tools in a Mixology Kit, an Arcane Mixter may not create Mystic Libations. Substitute tolls and ingredients may be gathered at a DM's discretion. Replacement of the full kit costs 50 gold pieces, but a DM may rule that partial substitutions may work in some cases.

The resulting Mystic LIbation can be stoppered and stored like a potion. Any character may then use a bonus action to unstopper and gulp it down (or take longer and savor it, if they choose). Once consumed, that character immediately gains the benefit of the Mystic Libation's power. A character must drink the entire Mystic Libation to receive its effect; if it is partially consumed or shared, it is simply a delicious, mildly alcoholic concoction.

The Mystic Libation is not a potion per se. It is a lasting extension of the Arcane Mixter's bardic power. As such, its magic fades rather rapidly. The Mystic Libation can be stored until the next dawn, or for 24 hours (whichever comes first). After that time, it becomes simply a delicious mundane cocktail with mild alcoholic properties.

A character who consumes multiple Mystic Libations within the same hour loses any effects of all Mystic Libations and becomes nauseated for one hour. All things in moderation.

At 3rd level, an Arcane Mixter can make Mystic Libations with only a single magical effect: Liquid Courage. At higher levels, they know how to make Mystic Libations with other effects.

Additional Mystic Libations

At 6th level, you expand your magical mixing power so you may create Mystic Libations beyond Liquid Courage. Creating any of these takes one minute and expends one use of Bardic Inspiration, and their magic (but not their delicious flavor) disappears at the next dawn, or after 24 hours, whichever comes first. unlike with Liquid Courage, an Arcane Mixter may benefit from (or suffer from) the effects of any of their own Additional Mystic Libations.

Scorpion Bowl

Starting at 14th level, you may expend 2 uses of Bardic Inspiration and take at least one minute to make a Scorpion Bowl of any Mystic Libations in their repertoire. The Scorpion Bowl creates enough drink to share between up to six characters. It cannot be stored as six separate doses - if stored, it must be stored together in one large bottle, flask or skin. As with any Mystic Libation, its magic disappears at the next dawn, or after 24 hours, whichever comes first.

To grant its effects to more than one character, the Scorpion Bowl must be consumed by all characters at roughly the same time, as part of its magic that allows those two uses of Bardic Inspiration to spread across many characters is the joy of sharing the drink in friendship.

If the entire Scorpion Bowl is consumed by only one character, the Mystic Libation effect does not change, but the duration of the effect is doubled.
