Base Class: Bard
Bards of the College of Cacophonous Echoes understand the feeling of loneliness, but instead of wallowing in self pity, they decide to make their own friends out of themselves. It is easier to stay in time and on key when you all share the same mind after all.
Merry Men Made Manifest
3rd-level College of Cacophonous Echoes feature
You can use an action to magically manifest three illusory echoes of yourself in three unoccupied spaces you can see within 15 feet of you for up to 1 hour. These echoes are magical, translucent copies of you that last until they are destroyed, until you dismiss them as a bonus action, until you manifest another Band of Merry Men, until you’re incapacitated, or until the duration runs out.
Your echoes have AC 14 + your proficiency bonus, 1 hit point, and immunity to all conditions. If they have to make a saving throw, they use your saving throw bonus for the roll. They are the same size as you, and they occupy their spaces. On your turn, you can mentally command the echoes to move up to 30 feet in any direction (no action required). You have a pool of 60 feet of movement that can be divided among the three echoes. If your echoes are ever more than 30 feet from you at the end of your turn, they are destroyed.
You can use the echoes in the following ways:
- When you summon your echoes, you may decide with what instrument, if any, the echoes are equipped. They are able to perform independently of each other, providing backing music and/or vocals.
- As a bonus action, you can teleport, magically swapping places with any of your echoes at a cost of 15 feet of your movement, regardless of the distance between the two of you.
- When a creature that you can see within 5 feet of any of your echoes moves at least 5 feet away from it, you can use your reaction to make an opportunity attack (grapple) against that creature as if you were in the echo’s space. It must succeed on a strength or dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC or its speed becomes 0 for the rest of the turn.
Cacophony of Taunts
3rd-level College of Cacophonous Echoes feature
You can use your "charm" to entice enemies into focusing on you. As a bonus action, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration and choose one creature you can see within 60 feet of you. You and your echoes hurl insults and provocative words onto the target and it must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the target has disadvantage on all attack rolls against targets other than you or your echoes until the end of your next turn.
The save DC is affected by the number of echoes that are active. If all three echoes are active, the DC is your normal spell save DC. For each destroyed echo, the DC is lowered by 1.
Overwhelming Observation
6th-level College of Cacophonous Echoes feature
You can temporarily transfer your consciousness to your echoes. As an action, you can see through all of your echoes' eyes and hear through their ears at once. During this time, you are deafened and blinded. You can sustain this effect for up to 10 minutes, and you can end it at any time (requires no action). While your echoes are being used in this way, they can be up to 1,000 feet away from you without being destroyed.
You are able to determine from which echo each sight and sound originates and may speak through the echoes at will, but due to the discordant nature of the ability, any words spoken will be produced by all of the echoes. In addition, you must make a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw at the end of the effect. On a failed save, you are stunned for 10 minutes.
Merry Martyrdom
6th-level College of Cacophonous Echoes feature
You can recall one of your echoes into yourself to receive a boost. When making an attack roll, you dispel one of your echoes and are able to roll 1d4 and add it to the result.
Catastrophic Cacophony
14th-level College of Cacophonous Echoes feature
When you cast a spell that targets only one creature and doesn’t have a range of self, you can expend a number of bardic inspiration dice equal to the spell’s level to cast the spell from each of your echoes at once. These can target one or multiple different targets.
To be eligible, a spell must be incapable of targeting more than one creature at the spell’s current level. For example, magic missile and scorching ray aren’t eligible, but ray of frost and chromatic orb are.
