Set Game
2nd-level Chess Magic feature
As an action, you can magically link yourself to a number of friendly creatures you can see equal to your intelligence modifier, plus one fifth your wizard level. Creatures linked this way will be denoted as "Pieces". For each of these Pieces, as long as you are on the same plane of existence, you can see through their senses, and as long as you are within 500ft of each other, can cast spells as if you were in their space. However, spells cast in this way cannot deal direct damage when cast (Ex. Cone of Cold). The spells can deal damage after they are successfully cast (Ex. Spike Growth). The link lasts 24 hours, and can be ended as an action. This ability can't be used again until it's ended, and pieces cannot change ranks even if completely ended, unless by duration. This ability also does not affect any other creature with this ability.
- While linked, all of your pieces are considered "Pawns" to start out with.
- When you cast a leveled spell through a pawn, it can use it's reaction to cast a cantrip, or make a single weapon attack.
Promote
6th-level Chess Magic feature
When you link with your pieces, select two creatures, each of which loses their "Pawn" status, and becomes one of the following (your choice, always selecting both options)
Knight - When you cast a leveled spell through this creature, it can move up to it's movement speed, ignoring space occupied by creatures and opportunity attacks. It can then cast a cantrip, or make a single weapon attack.
Bishop - When you cast a leveled spell through this creature, you may teleport them up to 30ft directly towards or away from another creature. It can then cast a spell, or make a single weapon attack that targets only that creature.
Tactical Positioning
10th-level Chess Magic feature
When another creature that you can see takes an action, you can use your reaction to select two creatures you can see, including the creature acting. They both teleport, swapping positions. The action still resolves as normal, potentially causing a different target for a weapon attack, or changing the targets for an area of effect ability. This ability can only be used a number of times equal to your intelligence mod + proficiency bonus, recharging on a long rest.
Grand Promotion
14th-level Chess Magic feature
When creating your pieces, you become an eligible piece: Selecting either the King or Queen option. In addition, another creature of your choice is promoted to a rook.
King - Spells that take up a specified area, such as Wall of Fire, last for 1d4 rounds after you lose concentration on them. If you lose concentration on a spell, your speed is reduced to 5ft on your next turn.
Queen - You gain a flight speed of 90ft, and the flyby trait, allowing you to fly without provoking opportunity attacks. This flight is magical. If you move at least 20ft towards a creature to within 5ft of them, that creature is pushed back half the distance you moved.
Rook - At the start of your turn, this creature may use it's reaction to move up to it's full speed, and take an action, as if it was their own turn.
