Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Paladins who undertake the Oath of Erudition value knowledge above all else, and view the world as a wondrous place full of mysteries and secrets to uncover. To solve these mysteries and learn these secrets, these paladins devote themselves to learning the history of the world, as well as the myths and legends of gods, heroes, and ancient societies. They also dedicate themselves to the preservation of knowledge, using their abilities to protect repositories of scrolls and relics, and undertaking quests to reclaim artifacts from long forgotten tombs.

TENETS OF ERUDITION

The tenets of the Oath of Erudition drive its paladins to protect, embrace and cultivate knowledge.

Knowledge is Power. Knowledge is a gift, but share it only with the worthy. Do not let it fall into the wrong hands.

Forever a Student. You must never stop learning and improving; seek out knowledge and experience whenever you can.

Cultivate and Enlighten. Find others with a passion for knowledge, and help cultivate this passion. As you do, knowledge gains champions.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of Erudition Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.

Oath of Erudition Spells

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options:

Knowledge Unbound. As an action, you can expend a use of your Channel Divinity feature to overload the mind of a creature within 30 feet of you with indecipherable information, forcing it to make an Intelligence saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes psychic damage equal to 1d10 + half your paladin level rounded up. On a successful save, it takes half damage.

Whether the target succeeded or failed, the target has disadvantage on the next ability check or attack roll it makes before the end of your next turn as its mind reels from the experience.

Brilliant Mind. When you or one of your allies makes an Intelligence ability check, you can use your reaction and expend a use of your Channel Divinity feature to grant the target a +10 bonus to the check.

Aura of Mind Shielding

At 7th level, you constantly emit an aura that guards the mind of yourself and your allies. You and creatures of your choice within 10 feet of you have resistance to psychic damage while you’re not incapacitated. In addition, your thoughts cannot be read by telepathy or other means unless you allow it.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Adamantine Intellect

At 15th level, your mind is akin to a mighty fortress. You gain proficiency in Intelligence saving throws. In addition, when you succeed on an Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma saving throw against a spell that targets only you, you may use your reaction to cause the spell to have no effect on you and instead target its caster, using the slot level, spell save DC, and spellcasting ability of the caster.

You can use this feature once per short rest.

Exemplary Scholar

At 20th level, you can transform into an avatar of knowledge. As a bonus action, you can enter a state of heightened intelligence for 1 minute. For the duration, you gain the following features:

  • You gain 120 feet of truesight.
  • You have advantage on all Charisma, Intelligence and Wisdom saving throws you make.
  • Whenever you make an ability check with a skill you’re proficient with, you can treat a d20 roll of 9 or lower as a 10.

You can use this feature once per long rest, unless you expend a 5th-level spell slot to use it again.
