Base Class: Paladin
Paladins who swear the Oath of Anguish are, more often than not, broken people. People whose whole lives have been nothing but suffering; or for whom pain is something sacred, embracing it as a form of piety and worship. Some however, simply revel in inflicting it upon others.
TENETS OF ANGUISH
The tenets of the Oath of Anguish encourage its paladins to embrace suffering and inflict it upon those who would stand against them.
Pain is Truth. Pain is a fact — not an evil to be defeated nor a problem to be solved.
Pain is Power. Pain is a whetstone — let it sharpen your senses and hone your skills.
Pain is Eternal. Pain is a constant — it is fruitless to remedy and disrespectful to ignore.
Oath Spells
You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of Anguish Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.

Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options:
Grim Martyr. As a bonus action, you can expend a use of your Channel Divinity feature to force a hostile creature within 15 feet of you that can see you to make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature can't attack any creature other than you for 1 minute. A creature can reroll this saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.
Amplify Torment. As a bonus action, you can expend a use of your Channel Divinity feature to enhance the suffering of a creature within 30 feet of you. Until the end of your next turn the creature cannot regain hit points and whenever the creature takes damage, it takes an additional 1d6 necrotic damage. If the initial damage it takes is also necrotic damage, it suffers 2d6 necrotic damage instead.
Aura of Suffering
At 7th level, you constantly emit an aura of pain and suffering that lashes out against your foes. Whenever you take damage from a creature within 10 feet of you, it takes necrotic damage equal to your Charisma modifier, provided you’re not incapacitated.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.
Zealous Sacrifice
At 15th level, you can sacrifice your health to empower your attacks. As a reaction to an ally within 30 feet of you taking damage, you can choose to halve the damage it suffers, causing you to take the other half of the damage. After doing so, the next successful weapon attack you make deals additional necrotic damage equal to the damage you took by using this feature.
You can use this feature once per long rest.
Bloody Saint
At 20th level, you can transform into an avatar of pain and suffering. As an action, you can undergo a transformation for up to 1 minute, or until you are incapacitated. For the duration, you gain the following benefits:
- You are immune to necrotic damage and your hit point maximum cannot be reduced.
- Hostile creatures within 30 feet of you have disadvantage on attack rolls against any creature other than you.
- A hostile creature within 30 feet of you that attempts to move away from you must first make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, it cannot move.
- Whenever you take damage from an attack, all hostile creatures within 30 feet of you take necrotic damage equal to half the damage you take.
You can use this feature once per long rest.
