Base Class: Monk
The Way of the Golden Dragon was developed by a Shou monk named Hei Lung - a master of unarmed combat - and the gold dragon Solaxian Sun-Scale. A monk who chooses the Way of the Golden Dragon focuses on mastering the control of their ki, using it to increase the strength of their unarmed strikes but also to heal the sick and wounded.
A Golden Dragon monk harnesses the power of their ki to deliver strikes of unprecedented power, allowing them to fearlessly charge into the heat of battle against even the toughest opponents. However, the true masters of this technique also remember that their ki can be used to provide a healing balm to those in need, never passing up an opportunity to comfort the weary and battle-worn. Pursuit of this path brings one closer to their druid brothers, walking a fine line between combat and serenity, always mindful of the balance between strength and surrender, force and grace.
Golden Fist Technique
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, when you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can expend one or more ki point to deal extra force damage to the target, in addition to the normal attack damage. The extra damage is 2d8 for the first ki point, plus 1d8 for each additional ki point spent, to a maximum of 5d8.
Golden Touch
At 6th level, you gain the ability to heal yourself or others using your ki. You have a pool of healing power equal to 5x your monk level that replenishes during a long rest. As an action, you can touch a creature and draw power from the pool to restore a number of hit points to that creature, up to the maximum amount remaining in your pool.
Alternatively, you can expend 5 hit points from your pool of healing to cure the target of one disease or neutralize one poison affecting it. You can cure multiple diseases and neutralize multiple poisons with a single use of Lay on Hands, expending hit points separately for each one.
This feature has no effect on undead and constructs.
Blasting Strike
Beginning at 11th level, you gain the ability to perform a devastating area attack. As an action, you release a wave of energy, causing an explosion of force around you for a brief but deadly instant.
Each creature in a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on you must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or take 2d6 force damage and be knocked prone. A creature doesn't need to make the save if they are behind total cover.
You can increase the damage of this effect by spending ki points. Each point you spend, to a maximum of 3, increases the damage by 2d6.
Heart of the Dragon
At 17th level, you master the power of the Golden Fist. As a bonus action, you can focus your ki, causing your fist to emit bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet, and you gain the following benefits for 1 minute.
- You have resistance to all damage.
- When a creature hits you with a melee attack, you can make a special single melee attack against them. This does not use your Reaction.
- Your unarmed strikes score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20 on the d20.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
