Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

This bloodline is connected to a primordial spirit or energy. This primordial takes the form of an elemental barrier that attempts to protect you from harm. Often dormant until attacked, it appears as a swirling energy resembling the primordial energy associated with the bloodline. Many from this origin are nobles or politicians, never harmed by assassination, or have ties to ancient disasters in their family, with their ancestors being the only to survive.

Elemental Aegis

When you pick this origin at level 1, you are surrounded by a shield that will protect you from physical and arcane attacks. This shield will be not be visible most of the time, but will appear to swirl around you when attacked. Your aegis has resistance to certain types of damage, but these resistances and your resistances will not transfer to each other. Damage from area of effects will harm both you and your aegis, but damage from your aegis will not carry over to you in this case. Your aegis has health that you will roll at the end of a long rest. When your aegis drops to 0 hitpoints, it will fade away and you will no longer benefit from it until your next long rest. You will roll for your aegis' health:

Aegis Hitpoints: An amount of d4s equal to your sorcerer level.

These hitpoints will act as temporary hitpoints for you, you may not benefit from any other temporary hit points while your aegis is active. While your aegis is active, you will have advantage against checks or saving throws against being knocked prone, grappled, or restrained. Each aegis has vulnerability to force damage while active.

Your aegis can be temporarily dissipated by the use of dispel magic, and when this is done, your aegis will fade for a number of rounds equal to the spells level. For the purposes of this interaction, your aegis spell level will act as equal to the maximum level sorcerer spell level  you are able to cast. At the end of this duration or any other magic dissipation, your aegis will return with the same amount of hit points as before.

In addition, you can speak, read, and write primordial, and you have advantage on charisma based checks with elementals.

 Your aegis benefits from being a certain elemental type. The appearance can be determined by you, as long as it makes sense for your chosen elemental. You make this decision when you pick this subclass. The choices are as follows;

Air Elemental

Your guardian is an air elemental. Your aegis will have resistance to thunder damage. At 14th level this will upgrade and, as long as your aegis is active, you will not suffer from fall damage. This aegis can appear as wind flowing around you.

Earth Elemental

Your guardian is an earth elemental. Your aegis will have resistance to lightning damage. At 14th level this will upgrade and, as long as your aegis is active, you will have immunity to the petrified status effect. This can appear as dust or sand flowing out from you.

Fire Elemental

Your guardian is a fire elemental. Your aegis will have resistance to fire damage. At 14th level this will upgrade and, as long as your aegis is active, you are immune to any weather effects that would give you exhaustion. This aegis can appear as swirling flames.

Water Elemental

Your guardian is a water elemental. Your aegis will have resistance to acid damage. At 14th level this will upgrade and, as long as your aegis is active, you will be able to breath underwater. This can appear as waves circling you or you appearing as wet.

Invigorating Meta-Magic

When you reach level 6, your metamagic has developed for new uses surrounding your aegis. You gain the following.

Repair: As an action, you may spend sorcery points to heal your aegis. This healing is equal to 1d4 per 2 sorcery points spent. This is capable on bringing back your aegis from 0 hitpoints and reactivating it. If you have any temporary hit points that are not from your aegis when you do this, they disappear.

Nullification: While your aegis is up, you may spend 1 sorcery point to gain advantage on a saving throw.

These meta-magic option do not count against your total known.

Elemental Enhancement

Starting at 14th level, your aegis improves and grants you new boons. Each aegis option now benefits from the additional effect listed on it.

In addition, your aegis has resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from non-magical attacks.

Cannibalize

By 18th level, you are able to drain from your aegis to empower yourself. You may deal necrotic damage to your elemental aegis to recover spell slots, up to a maximum of a level 5 spell slot. The spell slot recovery and damage for the spell slot level is shown on the following table:
