Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Kenjutsu (literally meaning: Sword Technique) pertains to techniques that entail the use of swords. It first appeared in the 15th century as a means of military training for the Samurai class and to rise to this level takes months, if not years, of dedicated training. This results in skills that can be applied to everyday life, including coordination and balance, discipline, and self-confidence.

3rd Lv. Kenjutsu Master

You can choose to change your fighter's strength saving throw proficency to dexterity.

You have dedicated your life to mastering the way of the sword. When you choose this subclass at 3rd level choose one of the three sword art styles listed below and gain those sword art style effects when wielding certain swords.

One Sword Style- Ready Stance- When wielding a sword with the one handed property in one or both hands and no other weapon, after you use the attack action to make a melee weapon sword attack, you can use your bonus action to take the ready action in order to ready an melee weapon sword attack or if you have a shield in your off hand, you may take the dodge action instead.

Two Sword Style- Dual Striking- When wielding two swords with the light property and you use your bonus action to make a melee weapon attack, you may make one additional melee weapon attack with the opposite sword as part of the same bonus action.

Greatsword Style- Momentum- When the fighter is wielding a sword with the heavy property, once per turn when the fighter rolls a d20 for an attack and misses, they may reroll the d20 to make a second attempt to hit the target.

7th Lv. Blade Arc Wave

Whenever you take the attack action and/or bonus action to make a melee attack with your chosen sword style weapon, instead of a melee attack you can instead perform a ranged attack with your sword launching a sharp wind blade, energy blade, or just cutting through space (your choice) against a target that is within 20 feet of the fighter's line of sight using the same attack and damage modifiers you would normally use for your sword attack. You can use this feature to make a number of these ranged attacks equal to your proficiency bonus per short rest.

10th Lv. Improved Sword Attack

Your mastery of the blade has allowed your fighter to improve their attacks based on the sword art style you choose at level 3.

One Sword Style- Trained Reaction- When wielding a sword with the one handed property with one hand or with both hands and you are wielding no other weapons, then you may gain an additional reaction per round but the second one can only be used to make an opportunity melee sword attack. Once per round, when wielding a shield in your off hand and you are hit with a melee weapon or ranged melee weapon attack and you took the dodge action on your turn, then you can gain resistance to the damage from that attack.

Two Sword Style- Surging Strike- When wielding two swords with the light property, once per turn when you perform your action surge, you gain an additional bonus action to perform your two sword style- Dual Striking attack.

Great Sword Style- Precision Strike- When wielding a sword with the heavy property, the fighter may use their bonus action to give themselves advantage on one of their melee weapon sword attacks ignoring any other effects that may impose disadvantage (the attack always has advantage).

15th Lv. Indomitable Sword Spirit

You can not be disarmed when wielding a sword(s) that you are wielding with your chosen sword style. You ignore a target's resistance to slashing damage you make with your chosen sword style weapon. The range for your Blade Arc Wave feature increase to 30 feet.

When you use your fighter's Indomitable feature, you may add your constitution modifier to your saving throw roll. You have advantage on this role if it is used to resist or end the frightened condition. If you use Indomitable on a saving throw to take only half damage, you instead take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw, and only half damage if you fail.

18th Lv. Kenjutsuka

Your fighter's mastery of the blade has transcended into new heights that would astonish other sword masters. Few are now a match for you in the art of the blade and of those few most are demigods or gods. You gain a new powerful feature for your chosen sword art style.

One Sword Style- Vital Strike- When wielding a sword with the one hand property in one or both hands and no other weapons, sword melee attacks score a critical hit on a 18-20. Additionally, if you are wielding a shield in your off hand then whenever you score a critical hit with a melee sword attack you can knock the target prone with your shield.

Two Sword Style- Flurry of Blades- When wielding a sword with the light property in each hand, the fighter may target only one creature or object with their attack action in order to use this effect and no other creature or object. Against that one creature or object, all melee weapon attacks with a sword can be made with advantage. You can only target another creature or object if the first chosen creature or object has been dropped to 0 hit points or destroyed otherwise you have disadvantage on all your follow up attacks.

Greatsword Style- Power Slash- When wielding a sword with the heavy property, the fighter can sacrifice a use of their extra attack to double the damage of one of their melee weapon sword attack damage rolls. You must have a use of your extra attack to use this effect and you must determine to use this feature after you have rolled to hit a creature but before you roll for damage. You only double the rolled damage for the weapon then apply any modifiers to the determined damage number. You can use this feature any number of times per round as long as you are able to sacrifice a use of extra attack to do so.
