Base Class: Barbarian
This Barbarian subclass focuses on being a stable frontline presence for your party while enabling more consistent use of your bonus actions and reactions each turn. Tapping into a largely overlooked fantasy niche (the stout brewmaster), this subclass is full of flavor but also packs a punch in combat.
Bonus Proficiency
Starting at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with brewer's supplies.
Bonus Proficiency
Starting at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with brewer's supplies.
Keg Tapper
Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you craft a keg of brew that you carry around with you. Choose one of the following options to supplement your keg and enable it to be used as a melee weapon:
- Chain and handle (bludgeoning)
- Bladed tankard (slashing)
- Iron cask borer (piercing)
Using either the keg or the chosen supplements count as a keg attack, with which you have proficiency, for the purposes of other abilities. The keg functions as a shield if you are not wielding any other weapons or shields while using it and deals 1d8 damage on hit.
As a bonus action while raging (and as a part of the same bonus action when you begin your rage) you can take a drink from your keg and gain one of the following benefits:
- Ironskin Lager: You drink a fortifying brew to guard against enemy attacks. You gain your Constitution modifier in temporary hit points.
- Firegut Spirit: You take a swig from a particularly potent spirit that warms you to your core. Upon drinking, you can make a special attack that deals 1d6 + your Constitution modifier in fire damage to an enemy within 5 feet.
- Strongjaw Ale - You take strong gulp from a stout ale. Until the start of your next turn, you can add your Constitution modifier to Athletics checks and you can deal 1d4 bludgeoning damage to a target you have grappled at the end of your turn.
These options gain additional benefits at 10th level:
- Ironskin Lager: Until the start of your next turn, you have resistance to damage from spells.
- Firegut Spirit: Increases the damage to 2d6 + your Constitution modifier and increases the range to 10 feet.
- Strongjaw Ale: As a part of the same bonus action you use to drink, you may attempt to grapple an opponent.

Under the Influence
Starting at 6th level, the damage of your keg attacks become magical for the purposes of overcoming immunity and resistance to nonmagical attacks and damage. When using your keg's contents to influence a target, you have advantage on Charisma (Persuasion) checks.
If a creature moves while within 10 feet of you, you can use your reaction to toss a flagon of slick brew at their feet. The target must make a Dexterity saving throw against your DC (8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier) or be knocked prone.
Potent Brewer
Starting at 10th level, your brewing ability and tolerance have grown to extraordinary heights. You gain immunity to poison damage and the poisoned condition. Melee attacks made with your keg deal an additional 1d8 poison damage, and enemies you have grappled take 1d8 poison damage at the start of your turn as the potent fumes waft out from your keg.
Additionally, your Keg Tapper abilities gain the following benefits:
- Ironskin Lager: Until the start of your next turn, you have resistance to damage from spells.
- Firegut Spirit: Increases the damage to 2d6 + your Constitution modifier and increases the range to 10 feet.
- Strongjaw Ale: As a part of the same bonus action you use to drink, you may attempt to grapple an opponent.
Drinking Buddies
Your fondness for the drink has started to affect your allies as well. Starting at 14th level, you can select a number of allies equal to half your proficiency bonus, rounded down, at the start of your rage. While you are raging, you can use your reaction to toss a swig of your brew at allies within 30 feet who have been damaged by a melee attack. This ability has different benefits based on which brew you choose:
- Ironskin Lager: The target regains 1d4 + your Constitution modifier hit points.
- Firegut Spirit: The target immediately deals your proficiency bonus in fire damage to the attacker.
- Strongjaw Ale: The target may immediately use its reaction to move up to half its movement speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
Drinking this brew is considered a free action for your ally, but they must be conscious to benefit from it.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and regain all uses when you complete a long rest.
