Base Class: Bard
A dancing shadow follows you as you play your song. The bards who dwell in the college of shadows have learned to manipulate their own shadow through their music, thanks to old magic from the Feywilds. Though the college of shadows is a near forgotten college, the bards of this college are still around. Due to the fact that the magic that fuels your shadow comes from the Fey wild, the shadow of a bard from this college is its' own being with its' own personality. What personality does your shadow have? Is it a serious and stern type, or maybe it's childish and playful?
The Dancing Shadow
When you join the College of Shadows at 3rd level, you gain the ability to solidify and manifest your shadow. It is always connected to you, it can stretch out 15 feet from you. (30 feet when you reach 6th level, and 60 feet when you reach 14th level).
- As an action you can make a melee attack with it, 1d6 slashing damage, and you may use your bonus action for a second attack with it. When it makes an attack role it uses your charisma modifier instead of strength.
- As an action you may use your shadow to restrain a target, within its' movement speed. You perform a normal grapple roll, except you use your charisma modifier instead of strength.
- As a reaction, if the shadow is within 15 feet of you, when you are attacked it can move into your space, pushing you 5 feet behind it, and take the hit for you.
Your shadow's health is equal to half your own, and it has an AC of 10. when your shadow drops to 0 HP, you have to wait till you take a long rest to manifest it again. Anytime you heal for any amount of health, it is halved. Half goes to you, and half to your shadow. When one number is higher than the other half, you gain the higher half.
Based on your level determines how many times to can manifest your shadow between long rests.
1st level is two times
3rd level is three times
6th level is four times
12th level is five times
17th level is six times
20th level is unlimited
Eyes of the Shadow
Also at 3rd level, you learn how to see through your shadow. You possess the ability to look through its' eyes. The shadow also has darkvision, so if you don't have it, you have it while looking through your shadow's eyes. You also roll with advantage while doing investigation checks, as long as your shadow is there looking with you.
Shadow Weaponry
At 6th level, you learn to manifest more than just your own shadow. When you manifest your shadow it manifests with its' own weapon, a shadow version of whatever weapon you have equipped when you manifest it. Though, it is just a shadow version of the weapon. It will possess magic properties such as +1, +2, so on, but it will not possess any other effects, such as element damages or special effects.
Your shadow has also grown in power with you, its' AC is now 14 and it is resistant to radiant and necrotic damage.
Shadowy Bond
Starting at 14th level, you have fully bonded with your shadow.
- You gain the ability to cast your touch spells through it.
- Its' AC increases to 16
- It gains an extra attack when making a melee attack with its' shadow weapon
Power of the Shadows
Also at 14th level, you learn 3 spells of your choice from the warlock spell list, the spells you choose must be level 5 or lower. The chosen spells count as bard spells for you but don't count against the number of bard spells you know.
