Base Class: Bard
Bards of the College of Grassroots Music often start with a formal education in another college, but leave those ranks for a more practical experience. A bard of the people, these bards are far more at home playing in a tavern than a castle. They travel the land seeking to learn local melodies and rhythms, encouraging any person they meet, of any skill level, to sit and play a song with them. These bards often tend to play a variety of instruments, relying on skill with a multitude of instruments from their travels rather than intimate mastery of one. With their songs, they inspire others to harmonize with cultures and experiences across the land.
Musical Polyglot
You are skilled at adaptation to different styles of music and their instrumentation. After spending one hour practicing with an instrument, you gain proficiency with that instrument. In addition, if you hum, sing, or play along with any song, you memorize it instantly. While learning an instrument or song, you have disadvantage on all perception checks.
Musical Forms
You feel your music so deeply when you play, that others cannot help but get drawn into the rhythm. As an action, you can spend a bardic inspiration dice to play a musical form that affects creatures in a 30 ft sphere around you. Each subsequent turn, you can spend your bonus action to continue playing the musical form. If you are grappled, incapacitated, paralyzed, petrified, restrained, stunned, or unconscious the musical form’s effect ends.
You gain two musical forms of your choice. You gain another one at 6th, 10th, and 17th level. When you gain a level in this class, you can choose one of the musical forms you know and replace it with another musical form from the musical form list.
Mystical Accompaniment
Choose up to three instruments you possess and can play. Ethereal versions of yourself or people you’ve played music with appear and will play these instruments along with you, enhancing the radius of your musical forms from 30 ft to 60 ft.
In addition, you may spend one minute to play a song you’ve learned and spend a bardic inspiration die. You may cast the spell Sending targeting only the person who taught you the song without consuming a spell slot.
Quartet's Climactic Finale
Every great performance has a spectacular finish! If you’re playing a musical form and use a bonus action to give a bardic inspiration die, your ethereal musicians aid your efforts. Choose up to four creatures within range of your musical form, and each of those creature gains a bardic inspiration. This feature only consumes one of your bardic inspirations.
