Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

These paladins must act in accordance with the will and principles of the dragon gods to whom they have sworn their oaths to.  Whether that be the wisdom and majesty of metallic dragons of Bahamut or the might and domination of the chromatic dragons of Tiamat.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.

Frightful Presence. You can use your Channel Divinity to exude a terrifying presence. As an action, you force each creature of your choice that you can see within 30 feet of you to make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, a creature becomes frightened of you for 1 minute. The frightened creature can repeat this saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Draconic Presence. You can use your Channel Divinity to augment your presence with divine power. As a bonus action, you grant yourself a +5 bonus to Charisma (Intimidation) and Charisma (Persuasion) checks for the next 10 minutes.

Aura of Draconic Resistance

At the end of a long rest choose a damage type: acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison. You and friendly creatures within 10 feet of your aura have resistance to that damage.  As a bonus action you can expend a level 1 spell slot or higher to change the damage type.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Breath of the Dragon

You can channel destructive waves of energy, like those created by the dragons you emulate. When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can replace one of the attacks with an exhalation of draconic energy in either a 20-foot cone or a 30-foot line that is 5 feet wide (your choice). Choose a damage type: acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison. Each creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking damage of the chosen type equal to 2d8 on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Draconic Transformation

At 20th level, you draw on the magic of dragons with a roar.  As an action you transform yourself, taking on draconic features.  You gain the following benefits for 1 minute:

  • You have blindsight with a range of 30 feet. Within that range, you can effectively see anything that isn’t behind total cover, even if you’re blinded or in darkness. Moreover, you can see an invisible creature, unless the creature successfully hides from you.
  • While this transformation lasts, as a bonus action, you can exhale shimmering energy in a 60-foot cone or a 90-foot straight line. Each creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 6d8 force damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
  • Incorporeal wings sprout from your back, giving you a flying speed of 60 feet.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

Oath Spell

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of the Dragoon Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.
