Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Paladins who take the Oath of The Dragonscourge swear their undying loyalty to an ancient order of knights. The Order of The Dragonscourge was an ancient brotherhood of knights who dedicated their lives to protecting humanity from its most dangerous predator; dragons. As time passed dragons began to die out, and with them, the order. Without dragons, there was no need for an order to slay them. Whilst the order and its members now rest, the ways and powers of the order can still be recognised and employed by those who swear their life by the ancient creed.

Tenets of The Order

The Oath of The Dragonscourge is one of nobility and selflessness

  • Be the spear. Let your actions pave the way for those behind you.

  • Be the shield. Defend humanity until its last bastion, and even as those walls cave in, stand your ground.

  • Boast of your convictions. Take pride in your oath, make such a mark that you are known to the heavens.

  • Live your life. Whilst you have devoted yourself to this cause, that is not all you are. Allow the teachings to guide you, not inhibit you.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

Oath of The Dragonscourge Spells

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Preternatural Bond. As an action, you can draw on the energy of the ancients to bolster your allies. Choose an amount of willing creatures up to your charisma modifier. These creatures gain the use of the following benefits for one minute.

  • Strength of the ancients. Once during their turn, an affected creature may use their reaction to deal an additional 1d4 + their proficiency bonus radiant damage to their damage for that attack. If the target of said attack is a size larger than the affected creature, the damage die is increased to 1d6
  • Bulwark of the ancients. Immediately after receiving damage, an affected creature may use their reaction to reduce the damage taken by 1d4 + their proficiency bonus

Overwhelming Odds. You can recall your tenets to inspire you in the most dire of situations.

  • Be the spear. If you are surrounded, you can use your action to draw upon your inner strength. Each creature within 5 feet of you must make a constitution saving throw. On a failed save a creature takes 1d10 force damage, falls prone and becomes paralyzed until the end of your next turn.
  • Be the shield. If you are within 10 feet of an ally and they receive more than half of their maximum hitpoints (excluding temp hp) in damage. You can use your reaction to leap in front of them, receiving the damage yourself. After you take this damage, until the end of your next turn you gain the following benefits: Your AC increases by an amount equal to your proficiency bonus, you gain temporary hp equal to the damage taken and any attacks you make towards the creature that was the source of the damage are made with advantage. Attacks made towards any other creature are made with disadvantage

Aura of The Dragonscourge

Starting at 7th level, you and friendly creatures within 10 feet of you gain a bonus equal to your 1d4 + your charisma modifier to any ability check they make. In addition to this, friendly creatures may add this bonus to an attack roll once a turn.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Bulwark of Flesh

Beginning at 15th level, If damage taken from Overwhelming Odds would reduce your hitpoints to 0, instead of falling unconscious you gain the following effects.

  • You must use your reaction to follow your ally and any movement must be used to stay within 5 feet of them.
  • You make attacks with disadvantage.
  • You gain resistance to the triggering damage type.
  • The temporary HP gained is increased by your allies constitution score.
  • All attacks directed at allies within 5 feet are instead directed at you, as you become their shield.
  • Once your temporary hitpoints are reduced to 0, you fall unconscious and gain one failed death save

Embodiment of Will

At 20th level, as an action, you manifest the primal power of the ancients. For one hour

You gain an additional two charges of your channel divinity. Whenever you use your channel divinity to use Overwhelming Odds you gain additional benefits.

Be The Spear: The range increases to 30 feet and all creatures size large or smaller automatically fail the saving throw and take 5d10 force damage as raw power emanates from your body, crushing those around you.

Be The Shield: You gain resistance to all damage. If the temporary hp gained is equal to less than half of your maximum health, it increases to match it.

In addition, for the duration, allies within 30 feet of you heal for 1d6 + your charisma modifier + their constitution modifier at the start of their turn.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest, in addition to this you gain a level of exhaustion.
