Base Class: Fighter
Champions are the pinnacle of physical excellence, combining rigorous training with raw power to hone themselves into the ultimate martial combatants. Fighters who model themselves on this archetype focus on developing their physical and mental fortitude to stay in the fight as long as possible, and learn how to use almost any weapon with deadly perfection.
Author's Note: Some features don't function properly on the character sheet, such as adding the bonus to attacks with your Favoured Weapon. You can edit the appropriate modifiers and create magic items or feats to work around this issue, but I will update the subclass once I figure out how to get those features to work as intended within the limitations of dndbeyond's homebrew creator.
Remarkable Athlete
3rd-level Champion feature
You can add half your proficiency bonus (rounded down) to any Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution check you make that doesn’t already use your proficiency bonus, and to the distance you can cover with a long or high jump. When you make a running jump, you can add your full proficiency bonus instead.
Favoured Weapon
3rd-level Champion feature
You have trained to master the use of a single weapon, honing your skills to perfection. Choose one simple or martial weapon that you're proficient with, a natural weapon, or your unarmed strikes. The chosen weapon becomes your favoured weapon, and you gain the following benefits:
Peerless Precision. You gain a bonus to attack rolls with your favoured weapon equal to half your proficiency bonus (rounded down).
Superior Critical. Your attacks with your favoured weapon score a critical hit on a roll of 19–20 on the d20. This range increases when you reach 10th (18-20), 15th (17-20), and 20th level (16-20) in this class.
Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace your favoured weapon with another weapon of your choice.
Champion's Spirit
7th-level Champion feature
You can add half your proficiency bonus (rounded down) to any saving throw you make that doesn’t already use your proficiency bonus.
Unfailing Assault
7th-level Champion feature
When you make an attack roll with your favoured weapon and miss, you can use your reaction to reroll the d20 and must use the new roll. You can't use this reaction if an effect causes you to automatically miss the attack.
In addition, when you roll damage for an attack with your favoured weapon, you can treat any 1 on a damage die as a 2.
Additional Fighting Style
10th-level Champion Feature
You can choose a second option from the Fighting Style class feature.
Archery
You gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls you make with ranged weapons.
Defense
While you are wearing armor, you gain a +1 bonus to AC.
Dueling
When you are wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon.
Great Weapon Fighting
When you roll a 1 or 2 on a damage die for an attack you make with a melee weapon that you are wielding with two hands, you can reroll the die and must use the new roll, even if the new roll is a 1 or a 2. The weapon must have the two-handed or versatile property for you to gain this benefit.
Protection
When a creature you can see attacks a target other than you that is within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll. You must be wielding a shield.
Two-Weapon Fighting
When you engage in two-weapon fighting, you can add your ability modifier to the damage of the second attack.
Devastating Blows
15th-level Champion feature
When you make an attack with a favoured weapon, you can choose to forgo the bonus to the attack roll from Peerless Precision. If the attack hits, you can roll one of the weapon’s damage dice one additional time and add it to the weapon's damage.
In addition, whenever you roll damage for an attack with your favoured weapon, you can reroll the weapon’s damage dice and use either total.
Survivor
18th-level Champion feature
You attain the pinnacle of resilience in battle. At the start of each of your turns, you regain hit points equal to 5 + your Constitution modifier if you have no more than half of your hit points left. You don’t gain this benefit if you have 0 hit points.
