Bard
Base Class: Bard

"My poetry may be tawdry and my dance clumsy, but no rotten tomatoes will hit me tonight!"

Students of the College of Recantation pledge a lifelong vow to the preservation of the arts. To protect them from the corruption of who wants to destroy rather than create, they learn how to manipulate the magical Weave by means of their songs, repelling the malicious intentions. These bards are called when a particular piece of art needs to be safeguarded, for there is no better guardian than an artist that took an oath on protect art itself. However, a task so important isn't required so often, so this figures earn money by helping other artists when they need to perform in front of a tough crowd.

Art of Resignation

Starting at 3rd level, you pledge allegiance to the art of abjuration, tapping into the knowledge of the artists before you. You learn two spells of your choice which you must choose from the abjuration spells of any class spell list. A spell you choose must be of a level you can cast, as shown on the Bard table, or a cantrip. The chosen spells count as bard spells for you but don't count against the number of bard spells you know. Whenever you gain a new level in this class, you can replace one of those spells with a new one, applying the same rules mentioned before.

Protection Vow

Also at 3rd level, you renounce to one of your spells to protect an ally. Whenever you cast a cantrip or a spell that has “self” as range, you can expend a Bardic Inspiration dice to extend that range to a creature within 60 feet (18 meters) that can hear you.

Canticle of Abjuration

At 6th level,  your comforting voice sculpts the Weave, resonating in an intricate, translucent song that sprouts from you and roots into your allies. As a bonus action, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to create a magical ward on yourself that lasts until you finish a long rest. Roll the Bardic Inspiration dice. The ward has hit points equal to the number you rolled multiplied for your Charisma modifier. When you or a creature you can see within 60 feet (18 meters) takes damage, you can use your reaction to absorb that damage. If the damage is dealt by a creature, you can rebuke the attack and inflict on that creature half the amount of the damage absorbed by the ward.

While the ward has 0 hit points, the magic dissipates and you can't create it again until you finish a long rest.

Guardianship Commitment

At 14th level,  you improve the safeguard clause to which you have committed. Whenever you use the “Protection Vow” feature, you can extend the effect to a number of creatures that you can see within 60 feet (18 meters) equal to the number of Bardic Inspiration uses you choose to expend for this effect (minimum of 1).
