"I cut the beast. It had seared me, but now its blood was the balm that would soothe. Later, I took the smallest amount and, adding it to the rite and ritual I had learned, drank without hesitation. It did not taste like blood as the uninitiated understand it, for they only know the taste of the wound, a flavour of defeat.

This was the taste of blood coursing within, of life, of the primal - a burning that is not swallowed so much as it inhabits. To infuse with the blood and life of such a beast is to be changed at the core. Some could see it and knew I was more than I had been. Some could not and had no warning. And some knew, but would not say, for the choice of how to wield it is truly mine. The act of becoming is a defiance of all expectation.

I am above. I see where the blade must go. I see through you."

- An Account: Blood of the Beast

Reavers are warriors who have unlocked a new level of control over their bodies. They command this untapped energy from deep within blood and bone. The Reaver path however is a double edge sword. The Reaver trades pain for strength, by channeling their own life force into raw power and stealing the life from their foes.

Reavers terrorise their enemies, feast upon the souls of their opponents and become more powerful as they begin to die. It is not so easy, however, to learn this gift, as it comes from the ritually prepared blood of a dragon.

Ring of Pain

Starting at 3rd level, you can mark part of the battlefield as yours. Enemies inside the ring are taunted to hit you and take fire damage if they do. The more you are hurt, the stronger both effects are.

You are surrounded by a ring of pain. When you are hit in combat, you can use your reaction to activate Ring of Pain, and force all non-friendly creatures within a 10 feet radius of you must make a DC 13 + your proficiency bonus Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save they are taunted and must use their action to Attack you, and if they hit, they take 1d8 fire damage. If you aren't within a taunted creature's reach, they must use their movement to move as close to you as possible. A taunted creature can remake the saving throw at the end of their turn.

If a creature saves against your Ring of Pain, they become immune to it for 24 hours.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all spent uses of it when you finish a long rest.

Scenting Blood

Beginning at 7th level, while you are bloodied (below half of your total Hit Points) the range of your Ring of Pain is increased by 10 feet, and you recieve these benefits:

  • You can take the Dash action as a bonus action towards a non-friendly creature.
  • You deal an additional 1d8 fire damage to creatures you hit with a melee weapon.

Fervor

Starting at 10th level, when you incapacitate or kill a creature within the radius of your Ring of Pain (it does not need to be in effect), you can choose to do one of the following:

  • You regain Hit Points based on half of the damage dealt to them.
  • You make another Melee Weapon Attack against a creature within range.

Torrential Pain

Starting at 15th level, your enemy's blood becomes your life force. You rip into your enemies, dealing damage based on how badly you're wounded and healing yourself.

As long as Ring of Pain is in effect, you can choose to heal based on how much damage you've dealt. At the start of your turn, you may heal half of all damage you dealt on your turn. When you use Torrential Pain, you lose the effects of Ring of Pain.

You can use Torrential Pain once per short rest.

Draconic Hunger

Starting 18th level, Your Ring of Pain becomes Draconic Hunger. You are fuelled by your bloodlust and it brings you and your enemies closer to the brink of death.

When you are hit in combat, you can use your reaction to activate Demonic Hunger, and force all non-friendly creatures within a 30 feet radius of you must make a DC 15 + your proficiency bonus modifier Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save they are taunted and must use their action to Attack you, and if they hit, they take 2d8 + your Constitution modifier force damage. If you aren't within a taunted creature's reach, they must use their movement to move as close to you as possible. A taunted creature can remake the saving throw at the end of their turn.

If a creature saves against your Draconic Hunger, they become immune to it for 24 hours.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all spent uses of it when you finish a long rest.

Insatiable

At 18th level, if you are below a fourth of your total total Hit Points you gain the following benefits to your Draconic Hunger:

  • Your Demonic Hunger radius is increased by another 10 feet, and if there are any new creatures within the radius, they must make the Wisdom saving throw.
  • If you hit a creature within the radius your Demonic Hunger, they take another 2d8 force damage (included in the attack).

If you are reduced to 0 Hit Points, your body is consumed by flame and any creature within 10 feet of you makes a DC 22 Constitution saving throw and on a failed save, takes 12d12 fire damage, and half as much on a success. You can only be restored to life only by means of a True Resurrection or a Wish spell.
