Base Class: Wizard
The mage sat quietly in the church, the people hiding behind him, as the demons filed in. As they charged, glyphs on the walls and floor flickered to life, the demons running into an invisible wall even as lightning flicked among them. By the time the last glyphs had faded, nothing was left of the demons but charred corpses, without a single person being harmed
Where the school of evocation blasts the enemy and the school of conjuration brings forth familiars, the school of warding is more subtle class, preparing ahead of time for combat by anticipating their needs ahead of time. If they properly anticipate their enemies, a school of warding mage can bring astounding firepower to bear, especially given time to prepare.
Prepared Glyphs
At 2nd level, you have learned to store spells in glyphs. A glyph can be made on any flat surface and lasts until the next long rest. It can be saved with a set of conditions that trigger it or triggered at will by the wizard who saved it. The Wizard can either create it immediately, sacrificing a spell slot equal or above in level to the spell or spend that spell slot level in hours creating it to avoid spell slot usage. Any spells that require concentration last to their full duration. This glyph is single-use and disappears after used.
Place Ward
At 6th level you gain the ability to place wards. Wards can fill 40 square feet of space of ground so long as the full space is continuous and is 10 feet tall or to the ceiling, whichever is closer. Up to five spells can be stored in the ward, which trigger at a prechosen location when an enemy enters the ward area. Each time an enemy enters the area, one of the spells is triggered in the order they were stored in the ward. Wards last until all five enemies are hit by its effects or until it is dismissed by the wizard. Any spell that required concentration will last their full duration. The Wizard can only have one ward at a time.
Permanent Glyphs
At 10th level, all glyphs you place will last until used or dismissed, but for each glyph storing spells over 6th level you must roll a d10 after the end of every long rest and if you roll a one the glyph collapses.
Layered Wards
At 14th level, you gain the ability to place a theoretically unlimited amount of wards, but they must all be a minimum of 10 feet from the borders of each other.
